Bring down the Communication Executive by entering the following command at the NetWare system console prompt (:): CSDOWN 2. If the message "unable to unload module" appears, shut down all the referenced modules. 3. Unload the Communication Executive by entering the following from the NetWare system console prompt: UNLOAD COMMEXEC 4. From a workstation, log on to the server as "supervisor" (NetWare 3.1x) or "admin" (NetWare 4.x) or equivalent, and, using the NetWare SNA Links 1.0 diskette, do the following: a. Create a directory on your server called SYS:SYSTEM\SNALINKS. b. Copy all files except those in CSL directory from the NetWare SNA Links 1.0 disk 1 to the SYS:\SYSTEM\SNALINKS directory. c. Copy the PINSTALL.NLM and CSINSTAL.HLP from the SYS:SYSTEM\CSINSTAL directory to the SYS:SYSTEM\SNALINKS directory. 5. Install SNA Links 1.0 by doing the following: a. Enter the following from the NetWare system console prompt: LOAD INSTALL b. Select "Product Options" and press . c. Press and backspace over the "A:" path and enter the following string: SYS:SYSTEM\SNALINKS d. Select the "Install on this server" option and press . e. When the Installation is completed, press to exit the INSTALL program. 6. Proceed to Section B. Step 4. B. If you have already installed SNA links, do the following: 1. Bring down the Communication Executive by entering the following command at the NetWare system console prompt (:): CSDOWN 2. If the message "unable to unload module" appears, shut down all the referenced modules. 3. Unload the Communication Executive by entering the following from the NetWare system console prompt: UNLOAD COMMEXEC 4. Install the PTF by doing the following: a. Insert the NetWare SNA Links Update diskette into your floppy disk drive. b. Enter the following from the NetWare system console prompt: LOAD INSTALL c. Select "Product Options" and press . d. Press and enter the letter of the drive containing PTF 437. e. Select "Install on this server" and press . f. When the Update is completed, press to exit the INSTALL program. 5. At each workstation attached to the NetWare server, add the following entries to NET.CFG (also known as SHELL.CFG): PB FRAME MAX = 1024 <-(for NW 3.1x users only) LI FRAME MAX = 1024 <-(for NW 3.1x users only) PB BUFFER = y Replace y with any buffer value from 2 through 10. For more information on these values, refer to the section "How the Transmission Rate Control Algorithm Works" on pages C-2 and C-3 of the NetWare SNA Links Administration Guide. 6. From a workstation, log on to the server as "supervisor" (NetWare 3.1x) or "admin" (NetWare 4.x) or equivalent, copy the Update diskette, and do the following: a. Copy the following files to file server directory SYS:\CSL: CSL.NLM ICM_SPX.NLM IRWASM.NLM RIPENH.NLM <-(for NW 3.1x users only) b. NetWare 3.1x users: Copy the PBURST.NLM file to the file server directory SYS:\SYSTEM. c. NetWare 3.1x users: To have the latest the Packet Burst support, Novell suggests that you change to VLMs. You can find the VLMs in VLMUP1.EXE in NOVFILES. 7. Update the AUTOEXEC.NCF file by loading the following files in the EXACT order shown below: load PBURST <-(for NW 3.1x users only) load SYS:\CSL\CSL load SYS:\CSL\RIPENH <-(for NW 3.1x users only) load SYS:\CSL\ICM_SPX load SYS:\CSL\IRWASM 8. Update the STARTUP.NCF file by adding the following statement: Set Maximum Physical Receive Packet Size = 4202 NOTE: For NetWare 4.01 users, before you load SNALKS.LAN, unload the CSL.NLM file and reload it, then load the SNALKS.LAN file. Patch History: This is the only patch that has been issued for SNA Links.
