CARINS.ZIP Version 1.0, 2/4/95 ================================ Overwater navigation fixes for FS5 for some oceanic airways within Microsoft Caribbean Add-on Scenery. Data input and compiled by Lionel W. Roberts, CIS 71623,2044 Data taken from DOD Flight Information Publication, ENROUTE LOW ALTITUDE, CARIBBEAN AND SOUTH AMERICA, 12/8/94, Charts L-3, L-5, L-6, A-1 and A-2. Files included in CARINS.ZIP: ============================= C_B-INS.TXT This file CARIBINS.BGL INS fix file CARIBINS.TXT Source data file Purpose of the BGL file: ======================== This small BGL file adds 73 virtual VORs for oceanic navigation on Amber 555 airway from San Juan to Bimini and most "colored" airways in the Caribbean area covered by Microsoft Caribbean add-on scenery. It does not include any compulsory reporting points as depicted on Enroute Low Altitude, Caribbean and South America charts L-7/L-8 or reporting points (with a few exceptions) that can be determined by VOR/DMEs in the add-on scenery. The file will be updated as soon as the charts L-7/L-8 arrive. Frequencies have been selected (XXX.X5) to insure conflict free reception. Simulating an Inertial Navigation System, course guidance and ground speed are available when within about 200 miles of the fix. DME information is only available within 99.9 miles simply because the instrument panel readout in FS5 does not go above this value. Instead of inputting lat/lon values into the INS, simply tune the applicable VOR frequency for course guidance, ground speed and range information. When used with Billy Ruggiero's OCEANI.ZIP, colored airway navigation is available from East Coast cities and Miami, into and throughout the Caribbean proper. How to: ======= To use this file, copy CARIBINS.BGL into your scenery directory (\fltsim5\scenery). To remove it, just delete if from your scenery directory. It does not overwrite or change any known file. Backup of the scenery directory is recommended just to be on the safe side. Should you be asked to overwrite an existing file during initial installation, terminate the installation immediately and rename CARIBINS.BGL to an unused name. Users of BGLMGR by John Trindle need not make any changes to their configuration file. When MS Caribbean scenery is enabled, this file will also be enabled.
