Loading & Running AAF Adventures The attached adventure was compiled using Mallard's AAF compiler and Pilot's Power Tools. To run the adventure you should do the following... 1. Unzip the adventure file to your FS directory using PKUnzip 2.04g. 2. Load FS4 in the normal manner. (Mallard's Aircraft & Adventure Factory is required.) 3. Pull down the 5-NAV/COM menu. Load the appropriate scenery. For example, load Tahiti (MS-2) for the ANARAN.ADV (Aana to Rangiroa French Polynesian Islands adventure). 4. If you are using "shareware" scenery, you may have to load it by pulling down the 1-MODE menu and selecting Scenery Design (A&SD required), then select 1-Static Scenery Designer, then select K-Static Scenery Library and finally , select the appropriate scenery file. Press the Escape key until you are back at the 1-MODE menu. 5. At the 1-MODE menus, select the Mode Library and load the mode which corresponds to the ZIP filename. As in the example above, load ANARAN.MOD. Press the spacebar to return to FS and you should be placed at your departure airport taxiway. 6. Select the 1-MODE menu and select Adventure Factory. If you own SGA and A&SD, AF will most likely be letter "L" on the menu. At the Adventure menu, select the adventure that corresponds to ZIP filename. For example, if you are loading the Aana to Rangiroa adventure, select ANARAN.ADV. Press the spacebar, and you should see the Adventure's ATC commands begin to scroll across your airplane's dash. You're on your way!! Have fun!! NOTES: Follow all adventure commands as they appear on your screen. If you miss a command, pressing the "R" key will repeat the last command after several seconds. I recommend using the Cessna (or other plane with similar performance characteristics). Ascend to the assigned altitude and heading, then engage the Flight Plan Auto Pilot (FPAP) by pressing the "W" key (press the "E" key at any time to disengage FPAP). Sit back and enjoy the scenery... but keep a close eye on the ATC messages for course and altitude changes enroute. It is a good practice to ALWAYS disengage FPAP about 20nm from your destination and pilot your ship in from there following ATC, Center and Approach Control's commands. If you want to automate the process of compiling your own adventures, in addition to automating many of the steps noted above, I strongly recommend purchasing Pilot's Power Tools when it hits the stores.
