Unique Identifier : AIDSLINE ASHM6/95291885 AB The Kirketon Road Centre (KRC) is a primary health care (PHC) facility of Sydney Hospital located in Kings Cross, involved in the prevention, treatment and care of HIV/AIDS and transmissible infections among at risk youth, sex workers and injecting drug users. Nurses have practised within a multi-disciplinary team at KRC since 1987 and throughout this period, the role has developed and expanded to meet the ongoing needs of the target populations. Nurses provide clinic based services and also staff the AIDS bus, an outreach program to street sex workers. The role of the nurse practitioner is currently undergoing evaluation in order to determine whether it is appropriate.
