SO Annu Conf Australas Soc HIV Med. 1994 Nov 3-6;6:301 (unnumbered poster). Unique Identifier : AIDSLINE ASHM6/95291874 AB Patients with HIV are spread widely over Queensland. There is a perception that access to antiviral drugs is difficult owing to the geographical distribution. In this study, we examine the use of Zidovudine in Queensland, particularly in relation to (relatively) isolated areas of the state and examine the immunological, demographic and other factors which may determine both access to, and use of, Zidovudine. METHOD: The Queensland State HIV/AIDS Register is a computerised, active and progressive database. Details of patients' CD4+ counts, antiviral use and illnesses are progressively added to the database through active follow up. RESULTS: The results will show that access to Zidovudine is not geographically restricted in Queensland, that the use of antivirals is widespread and appropriate according to current scientific principles.
