Unique Identifier : AIDSLINE AIDS/95700161 AB House Speaker Newt Gingrich announced that a Congressional hearing will be held to determine whether Federally funded AIDS prevention programs promote homosexuality. Gingrich told members of a town meeting that he had evidence that Federally funded AIDS programs and public education programs were encouraging homosexual practices, including effective methods of sadomasochistic interaction. Gingrich, who says he is very pro-family, does not favor repression against gay men or lesbians. His younger sister is a lesbian. However, he rejects the idea of the Federally funded schools teaching first-graders about homosexuality.
