WINDOWS 95 Installation of Miniport Drivers for =============================================== DTC 3280/3270/3150/3274/3290/3292 ================================= INCLUDED WITH THIS SETUP95.TXT FILE: - SCSI.INF - DTC328X.MPD DTC3280/3270/3150 - DTC3274.MPD DTC3274 - DTC329X.MPD DTC3290/3292 1. If installing WIN 95 using a CDROM, make sure that the system can access the CDROM properly under DOS. The DOS ASPI and CDROM driver must be loaded in the Config.sys file. ASPI DRIVERS: =========== DTC 3280/3270/3150 ASPI3X80.SYS DTC 3274 ASPI3274.SYS DTC 3290 ASPI3X90.SYS DTC 3292 ASPI3X92.SYS CDROM DRIVER: ============= All cards ADTC-CD.SYS The MSCDEX.EXE driver must also be loaded in the AUTOEXEC.BAT. For DTC3150V: ============= The config.sys file must contain: DEVICE=C:\ASPI3x80.SYS /M:D800 DEVICE=C:\ADTC-CD.SYS /D:DTCCD For DTC3280/3270: ================= The config.sys file must contain: DEVICE=C:\ASPI3x80.SYS DEVICE=C:\ADTC-CD.SYS /D:DTCCD For DTC3274: ============ In order for the DTC3274 driver to properly load in CONFIG.SYS under WINDOWS 95, it is necessary to rename the ASPI3274.SYS to ASPI3X80.SYS. a. While in DOS, rename the ASPI3274.SYS to ASPI3X80.SYS. C:> REN ASPI3274.SYS ASPI3X80.SYS b. Be sure to load the new ASPI3X80.SYS in the CONFIG.SYS. DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS DEVICE=C:\ASPI3x80.SYS /Q DEVICE=C:\ADTC-CD.SYS /D:DTCCD For DTC3290: ============ a. Make sure that the config.sys file contains: DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS DEVICE=C:\ASPI3x90.SYS /Q DEVICE=C:\ADTC-CD.SYS /D:DTCCD For DTC3292: ============ In order for the DTC3292 driver to properly load in CONFIG.SYS under WINDOWS 95, it is necessary to rename the ASPI3X92.SYS to ASPI3X90.SYS. a. While in DOS, rename the ASPI3X92.SYS to ASPI3X90.SYS. C:> REN ASPI3X92.SYS ASPI3X90.SYS b. Be sure to load the new ASPI3X90.SYS in the CONFIG.SYS. DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS DEVICE=C:\ASPI3x90.SYS /Q DEVICE=C:\ADTC-CD.SYS /D:DTCCD Refer to the DOS README file or Installation Guide for additional information. 2. Once installation of WIN95 is completed, replace the DTC SCSI.INF file. a. At the DOS prompt, go to the \WINDOWS\INF directory. b. RENAME the original SCSI.INF to SCSI.ORG. C:\WINDOWS\INF> REN SCSI.INF SCSI.ORG c. COPY the DTC SCSI.INF file into this directory. C:\WINDOWS\INF> COPY A:\SCSI.INF 3. The next step involves copying the .MPD driver into the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\IOSUBSYS directory. a. COPY the correct .MPD driver based on the controller card's model number. For example, if the card is either a DTC3280/3270/3150, type: C:\> COPY A:\DTC3280.MPD C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\IOSUBSYS 4. Add New Hardware. a. Exit DOS back to WINDOWS. b. Go to the CONTROL PANEL and select the ADD NEW HARDWARE icon. c. Select "NO" when asked, "Do you want Windows to search for your new hardware?". Click on the NEXT button and scroll down to the SCSI CONTROLLERS. Select this and click on the NEXT button. d. The next screen displays a list of Controller Card Manufacturers on the left side and their corresponding products or MODELS on the right side. Scroll down the MANUFACTURERS list until DTC DATA TECHNOLOGY is highlighted. Next, highlight the correct MODEL number of the card. Click on the NEXT button, once finished selecting items. e. The next window displays the current settings assigned for the card. The option to modify these settings to the correct values is not given at this time- step #5 below will guide the user to make these changes. Click on the NEXT button, followed by the FINISH button. f. A SYSTEM WINDOW will now appear prompting the user to shut down the system. Choose NO. If the system locks up at this point, simply reboot and continue with step #5. 5. Set the correct values for the controller card's DRIVER SETTINGS. a. From the CONTROL PANEL, select the SYSTEM icon. In the System Properties window, choose the DEVICE MANAGER tab. b. Make sure that "View devices by connection" is selected. Highlight the DTC controller, and click on the PROPERTIES button. c. Select the RESOURCES tab. Double clicking MEMORY RANGE will allow the user to modify the setting - for the DTC3290 card double click on the IO RANGE. Do the same for the INTERRUPT REQUEST line. Make sure that the values chosen are the same configured values on the card. For instance, for the DTC3280 (if the card is set to the default jumpers) the MEMORY RANGE should be 000D8000-000DBFF and the INTERRUPT REQUEST should be 11. Click the OK button once verification of these settings is completed, and click OK to return to the CONTROL PANEL window. 6. For DTC 3280/3270/3150: ======================= Before rebooting the system to load the WIN95 driver, remark out any DTC SCSI DOS drivers (e.g. ASPI3X80.SYS, ASCSI.SYS, ADTC-CD.SYS) found in the CONFIG.SYS file. This step allows the user to run the 32 bit miniport driver upon reboot. For DTC 3274/3290/3292: ======================= Remark the ADTC-CD.SYS and the ASCSI.SYS driver in the config.sys file. Be sure to leave the other 2 lines mentioned in step 1 loaded. This will configure the system to run the 32 bit miniport driver upon reboot. 7. Reboot.
