German forces have breached Soviet defenses in the Volchansk area. Your panzer
battalion (2 panzer companies, 1 panzer grenadier company) has been assigned to take vital
objectives in the area. Primary objectives are the air strip in the northeast, the ammunition storage
depot in the south-center, and the town of Chersky in the southeast. Divisional command has
ordered you to minimize damage, particularly from artillery fire, to the ammo depot and air strip
so that these assets my be used by German forces. Your battalion HQ unit has just arrived
from the west bringing with it a platoon of Tigers to augment your force. Your 1st Pz.Co. is
deployed in the north. The 2nd Pz.Co., with a cross-attached panzer grenadier platoon, is in the
south, and the 3rd Pz.GrenadierCo., with a cross-attached panzer platoon, is in the center.
Battalion reconnaissance units are located to the front of 2nd and 3rd companies. A regimental
reconnaissance platoon is also deployed in the area and reports minimal enemy activity. Divisional
intelligence reports that military police units, defensive garrison troops, and a Soviet reserve unit of
unknown type, located in Chersky, are the expected enemy forces in the area. Mine and air threats
are reported to be minimal. You are ordered to seize the objectives quickly before Soviet defensive
forces become organized. You are to accomplish this mission with minimal loss to your own forces
so that your battalion may be used as this operation continues. XX
