Problem Report Number: T10806 Enabling SERVER to run without the Presentation Manager with the PRINTING= switch. This also includes the PUP= switch in NET.EXE, which is now included in this patch. >>>> End of Most Recent Fixes <<<< ============================================================================ Problem Report Number: T10126 When performing a DELTREE from a DOS client to an OS/2 Server, only every other file that should be deleted gets deleted. This is fixed in SERVER.EXE V1.00.39. Problem Report Number: T10070 When loading VDM2IFS.OS2 with no argument for the REDIR version, a Trap E occurs on machine startup. This is fixed in VDM2IFS.OS2 V1.00.01. Problem Report Number: T10072 When performing an automatic reconnection at startup to an SMB server, PMNET does not request a password when reconnecting to the SMB resource, even if the resource requires one. This is fixed in PMNET.EXE V1.00.29. Problem Report Number: T09213 When any DOS LANtastic node opens a file on an OS/2 server in any sharing mode, and a second DOS LANtastic process tries to open the same file in a conflicting sharing mode, the second DOS LANtastic client gets a critical error instead of a sharing violation error code. This is fixed in SERVER.EXE V1.00.38. Problem Report Number: T08352 T07710 T07554 When there are multiple programs in the startup folder, PMNET can often issue the error "Sharing Module Not Responding". This is fixed in PMNET.EXE V1.00.29. Problem Report Number: T08029 Xircom PE3 and PCMCIA Credit Card adapters fail to bind to the LANtastic protocol stack, causing a "Network Error 41" error message. This is fixed in AI-NDIS.OS2 V2.09.11. Problem Report Number: T08359 Occasionally, the error message "Cannot Locate Installation Profile" would occur when starting the network. This is fixed in PMNET.EXE V1.00.29. Problem Report Number: T08016 Drive redirections to a Windows For Workgroups server are not re-connected automatically after being disconnected. This is fixed in PMNET.EXE V1.00.29. Problem Report Number: T07806 Several applications require NETAPI.DLL to work on an OS/2 network. This is fixed in NETAPI.DLL V1.0. Problem Report Number: T07945 T07919 VDM's under OS/2 are unaware that there is a network running, preventing many "network aware" applications from working properly. It is also not possible to login and redirect drives from a VDM. This is fixed in VDM2IFS.OS2 V1.00.01. Problem Report Number: T07680 When doing many findfirsts from a DOS box, the DOS box would lock up after many (>1000) findfirsts. This problem affected many BBS programs. Problem Report Number: T07655 When copying files with extended attributes from within a DOS session, the error 'Insufficient Disk Space' is issued. Problem Report Number: T07705 Motorola Site Message Client fails to work because of a problem with named pipes. (Alpha Pager management/control software). **************************************************************************** RECOMMENDED INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: **************************************************************************** 1. Make sure that the server is not running on your OS/2 machine by typing STOPNET. This will run a rexx script that will shut down the LANtastic server. 2. Run OS2P10.EXE in an empty directory to unpack all the files in the archive. When OS2P10.EXE is finished unpacking, copy the unpacked files from the patch archive to your LANtastic directory. Normally this will be in C:\LANTASTI\OS2. If you have problem copying LTDAEMON.EXE, and OS2LPI.DLL the following: REPLACE C:\LANTASTI\OS2\LTDAEMON.EXE LTDAEMON.EXE LTDAEMON.BAK REPLACE C:\LANTASTI\OS2\OS2LPI.DLL OS2LPI.DLL OS2LPI.DLL REPLACE.EXE is included in this archive. It allows replacing a file even though that file is currently running. 3. Run the NEWOS2P rexx script in your LANtastic directory (normally, it is c:\lantasti\os2) and follow the instructions to create an updated licensed copy of LANTASTI.IFS, and copy the installation profile entries to the OS2.INI file. After running this command file, the following steps must be completed "by hand" to finish installing the new software: 4. In your OS/2 CONFIG.SYS file, locate the line that says: DEVICE=C:\LANTASTI\OS2\IFS2NB.OS2 /USEDD (or something very similar), and immediately after this line, add the following line: DEVICE=C:\LANTASTI\OS2\VDM2IFS.OS2 Where C:\LANTASTI\OS2 is the directory where your LANtastic programs are located. This device driver will allow you to run network aware programs in a DOS BOX (VDM). 5. Copy the file NETAPI.DLL to the OS/2 DLL directory ONLY IF IT DOES NOT ALREADY EXIST. This would normally be C:\OS2\DLL. 6. Go to your LANtastic directory and delete the following files: newos2p.cmd, patch.com, newifs.exe, replace.exe, netapi.dll, os2p10.exe. 7. Shutdown and restart the system to enable the updated software. Repeat this procedure for all OS/2 machines on the network. **************************************************************************** NOTES **************************************************************************** 1. There is a program called DOSNET.EXE, with support files DOSNET.HLP and DOSNET.MNU. These programs are copies of the normal LANtastic NET for DOS. This program is included to test usage of the network in DOS VDM's under OS/2. Put these three files in the DOS VDM path. Two possible options for this are putting DOSNET.* in the \LANTASTI directory and then adding this directory to the path in the AUTOEXEC.BAT, or putting DOSNET.* in the \OS2\MDOS directory. 2. There are several limitations to NETAPI.DLL: a. This DLL only supports the NetBIOS functions. Applications that use other NETAPI functions (like OS/2 Chess) will still not work with this version of NETAPI.DLL. a. It will only work with copies of LANtastic AILANBIO.OS2, not with any other NetBIOS. b. If you have multiple adapters installed in your machine, it assumes that AILANB$ is on the first adapter, AILANB2$ is loaded on the second, and so on. c. The number of OS/2 sessions running programs that use NETAPI.DLL is currently limited to seven (7). **************************************************************************** MANIFEST OF ALL FILES INCLUDED IN THIS ARCHIVE: **************************************************************************** DOSNET.EXE DOSNET.HLP DOSNET.MNU LTDAEMON.EXE IFS2NB.OS2 NETAPI.DLL NEWOS2P.CMD OS2P10.TXT PATCH.CMD PMLTAUD.EXE PMLTCFG.EXE PMLTCHAT.EXE PMLTSEND.EXE PMLTSRV.EXE PMNET.EXE PMNETMGR.EXE PUP.EXE SRVAUDIT.DLL SRVCONFG.DLL SRVCORE.DLL SRVERLOG.DLL SRVLIB.DLL SRVNOTFY.DLL SRVPRINT.DLL SRVRACCT.DLL SRVSNB.DLL VDM2IFS.OS2 REPLACE.EXE NEWIFS.EXE AI-NDIS.OS2 PUP.EXE SRVDOWN.EXE OS2LPI.DLL NET.EXE FILE VERSIONS: SERVER.EXE 1.00.41 LANTASTI.IFS 1.00.109 PMNET.EXE 1.00.30 PUP.EXE 1.00.29 PMNETMGR.EXE 1.00.25 PMLTCHAT.EXE 1.00.22 PMLTSEND.EXE 1.00.22 PMLTCFG.EXE 1.00.22 PMLTSRV.EXE 1.00.26 NETAPI.DLL 1.00.11 AI-NDIS.OS2 2.09.11 IFS2NB.OS2 1.00.12 VDM2IFS.OS2 1.00.01 DOSNET.EXE 6.10.21 LTDAEMON.EXE 1.00.16 OS2LPI.DLL 1.00.12 NET.EXE 1.00.69 **************************************************************************** If you have any difficulties, please call Artisoft Technical Support at 520-670-7000.
