Duplicate Windows95 Hard Disks ... Files included ... This text file, XCP.Bat and Attr.Com ... compiled from PC-Mag source code of many years ago... a better version of Attrib that comes with DOS. The Following assumes your machines are pretty much the same ... they don't have to be, but then you need to reconfigure some stuff individually and if the motherboard is different, you may notice a lot of "NEW HARDWARE FOUND" ( and configuring of same ) when you boot to Win95 the first time. Bear in mind that all these installs will come up with the same Win95 registration number and so will any installed apps such as Works95 or MSOffice ... MicroSoft will probably know that something is up if all these machines are registered on line, so be prepared to show sales of different copies to each buyer. The following also assumes that Windows95 will reside in a directory off the root named Windows ... if not, you will have to edit things accordingly. I usually setup the original machine to dual boot to the DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.11 to allow running of apps that won't work in the 95 environment ... doing the following will keep this feature in tact ... if you do this you will have to provide copies of DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.11 along with Windows95 or Windows 95 upgrade. * Get the first machine ready, exactly as you like it * Copy XCP.Bat and Attr.Com floppy A: ( or edit it to suit yourself ) * Get all your hard disks for the other machines and FDisk them (These disks can be any size as long as they will hold all the files on your C: drive) * Slave the new disks * Connect slave on your fully configured Win95 machine * Set up your CMOS to recognize the second disk * Start Windows95 ... NOT THE COMMAND ONLY PROMPT! * Shell out to DOS95 * Format D: /S * Go to the D: drive * From the D: root, run A:XCP.Bat * Say Y to replace MSDOS.SYS * Say N to replace IO.SYS * Say N to replace Command.Com * Say N to replace Win386.SWP * Exit Back to Win95 * Shut down and put the drive jumpers back to master * That should be it .... Go back to a single drive on the system to test. If you find problems or improvements to this, please E-Mail Rick Gordon on Exec-PC or rcgordon@mail.wiscnet.net. Richard C.
