Multiple Editor Utility v0.10 By Dan Traczynski January 20, 1996. 1.0 - Introduction This mini-utility allows the SysOp to have multiple full-screen editors on his/her BBS so each user may use his favourite one, rather than the SysOp's favourite one. ;) It has been tested with RemoteAccess 2.0x but should work with any QuickBBS compatible system. 2.0 - Installation Installation takes a few steps, but I have tried to make it as easy as possible to install MultEdit. Firstly, you must make sure that RemoteAccess runs the MSG.BAT file that is included in the package. This can be done by entering "*C /C MSG.BAT *M" in RACONFIG> Options> Messages> External Editor. After this, run MEConfig.Exe and enter in the names of the editors that you will be using. Next edit MSG.BAT and have it execute these editors. MultEdit will return an errorlevel corresponding to the editor that the user has chosen. Therefore, if editor #1 is IceEdit and the user selects this editor, MultEdit.Exe will return an errorlevel of 1. MSG.BAT checks this and then runs the appropriate program. You must also edit MultEdit.Cfg and enter the required information. When a user posts a message, he will be asked which editor to use. After the first query, MultEdit will always run that editor without any further prompts. To allow the user to change his default editor, a type 7 menu option must be created with "C:\\MULTEDIT.EXE /X" in the OptData field. The "/X" parameter tells MultEdit that the user wants to select a new message editor. 2.1 - Sysop keys F1 - Shows the Sysop keys on the status bar. AltùC - Invokes the chat mode (with line wrapping :). AltùT - "Twit user". Returns the user back to the BBS. PgUp - Adds 5 minutes to the user's time. PgDn - Subtracts 5 minutes from the user's time. 3.0 - Distribution & Disclaimer DCT MultEdit is copyrighted (C) 1996 by Dan Traczynski. All Rights Reserved.
