Sample Import File:

Below this header you will find sample import data.  You may copy that data to another file and import it into DiaLog.  Name this file anything you like, but for ease of use name it 'Import.txt' and store it in your DiaLog directory.

Do not store this file back to 'Smplimpt.txt if you made any changes, save them to another file instead.  Upon entry, the Notepad program was placed into 'Word Wrap' mode.  This causes Notepad to think you made changes.  Simply ignore it and exit without saving.

DiaLog is able to import Address Book data if that data is formatted in accordance with the following rules:

Each data record consists of up to 32 data fields in quotes and separated by commas.  The last field is terminated with carriage return/linefeed.  Empty fields must still contain 2 quotes and the comma or carriage return/linefeed.

The import program gives you a chance to indicate which of the 32 items are contained in each record of your import file.  Once you make that selection, all records in that file must contain the same number of items.

You must import into an empty address book, otherwise it may be difficult to sort things out if something goes wrong.  You can then copy the names into the desired address book.  

If you do not have an empty address book:

  1.  Select 'Save Books' from the Addr Book Utilities menu  
  2.  Save Book4
  3.  Select 'Delete Names' - Delete all names from Book4
  4.  Import to Book4 - check results
  5.  Select 'Copy Books' - Copy Book4 to the desired book
  6.  Select 'Restore Books' - Restore Book4


Following are the 32 possible fields:

The sample data below is setup for 4 phone numbers (3 with data, 1 blank) and 3 BBS's (2 with data, 1 blank).  All other data is present.  To use it, you must select all data on the selection list, except leave 2 phone numbers and 1 BBS blank.
