All filename extension corrections and contributions are most welcome!

Two thirds of the extensions are checked very carefully (and slow) from
the original manuals of the various programs, thanx to the manual room
of the Oulu university Computer Center. The rest originate from various
computer magazine reviews and ads, internet news and your feedback.

As far as I'm concerned this collection can be freely used in any kind
of projects as long as the origin is mentioned and appropriate credit is
given. In real life this means you'll have to mention Filex, where to
get it (if not included) and send me a free fully functional copy of the
book or the program. Yes, it's a hard bargain: tanstaafl =-)

I have a dream that programmers would check out the extension list
before giving names to their program files. As you can see, there're
already lots of general used and understood extentions (which is a GOOD
thing), but also several quite severe conflicts (which is a BAD thing).

The following individuals have been most helpful, first when I collected
the original Extension List and later updating it. There are more, but
unfortunately I started to keep this credits list only after releasing
Filex 1.2, which btw was the third public release of the Extensio List:

The major part of list was created when I spent hours and days and weeks
in Computer Center's Manual Room. Good ventilation, I caught cold :)

- The Second Version before releasing Filex 1.0 ------------------------

Well, other projects had distracted my attention away from Filex and the
version 1.3 was almost the last. Fortunately Mr. Robert Hood send me a
most kind letter (with envelope and all!) and thus I desided to make an
update. Thank you!

- The Credits for Filex 1.5 --------------------------------------------
A lot of time has passed, a couple persons have contacted me for Filex,
but unfortunately I only remember Leo from Holland. Thanx for a list of
NeXT extensions.. I just quite don't know, what to do with them :)

- The Credits for Filex 1.6 --------------------------------------------
Even more time has passed. There are no changes in the program, but the
extension database has grown into over 1800 items == time to release an
update.

How about version 1.7.. I can't think of any improvements into the code,
but there still is a challenge of reaching the limit of 2000 extensions.
I guess that's all there's left to do :(
