CESSNA 310 K By Dan Baisley _____________________________________________________________________________ History: The Cessna 310 was produced from 1954 until 1981. It was originally designed to serve in the Air Force as a VIP transport and utility aircraft. As it evolved over it's 21 year production span, it's capabilities and performance increased dramatically. This re-creation took over 60 hours of design time and 15 hours of flight time to produce. _____________________________________________________________________________ Flight Tips: When flying this aircraft, remember that there is 50 gallons of fuel hanging on each wingtip. Consequently, the roll rates are slower than you might expect in a small aircraft. However, this also makes it a very stable IFR platform. The following reference speeds will help you fly this aircraft safely. Never-exceed speed ............ 224 kts max cruise speed .............. 183 kts max speed, 15 deg. flap ....... 156 kts rough air maneuvering speed ... 148 kts max speed, >15 deg. flap ...... 122 kts max speed, gear extended ...... 122 kts best climb speed .............. 125 kts approach speed ................ 96 kts takeoff speed ................. 78 kts stall speed, clean ............ 73 kts stall speed, ldg. config. ..... 65 kts Also included in the file FUEL.TXT are performance charts which allow you to adjust the throttle, prop, and mixture controls to plan for maximum endurance on long flights. Don't forget to make allowances for fuel used in climb and decent in your calculations! _____________________________________________________________________________ Features: * full interior view! Press + to see it. * fully detailed landing gear, doors, and struts * airstep retracts with landing gear * split flaps * nav lights and indicators * strobe light on tail * landing lights on wingtips extend with gear * taxi light on nose strut * full antennae * main and auxiliary fuel tanks * props stop as RPM decreases * accurate fuel consumption rates _____________________________________________________________________________ Bugs: :-( * Occasionally, you can see the interior from outside the plane, even though it is designated as internal view only. If you never look out rear view, you may not notice this bug. Even if you do, it doesn't always appear. One workaround I discovered is that if you chose any view direction other than forward before switching to the external view, the bug does not occur. I felt that the extra realism generated by having this feature was worth the occasional display problem. _____________________________________________________________________________ For more info: If you are interested in learning more about the 310, why not contact "310 Owners of America", an owners club for these aircraft. They publish "The Twin Cessna Flyer", a monthly magazine dedicated to the maintenance, care, and safe operation & flight of all Cessna piston twins. Better yet, attend their annual fly-in convention in Defiance, Ohio in early August.
