Files in this archive FILE_ID.DIZ Description file READ1ST.TXT INFO FILE READ2ND.EXE SUPPORT BBS YAHTZ.EXE The main executable TOPSCORE.DAT Is created by the program to maintain a list of players top scores THE FIRST TIME THE GAME IS RUN, or if the file is erased. Size is 240 bytes, and must reside in the same directory as the executable file. MANUAL.TXT Users manual THIS FILE INSTALLATION: Simply create a subdirectory on your hard drive and move all the files in the archive to that sub_directory. INSTRUCTIONS: Game play is easy and straight forward. Simply change to the subdirectory that the game is installed in "THIS IS A MUST" and type YAHTZ from the dos prompt. After the initial screen displays itself, You will be asked to input the number of players for the current game ( 1 or 2 ). No other response will be accepted. Next you'll be asked to input each players name or the name of player 1 in a single player game. ( case you need to practice ). You must input name(s) as the game will accept no other response till you do. From then on the game prompts the proper player for the needed input by name. To the right of the score board is a listing of The rolls remaining in the current turn The total number of turns you have remaining Your accumulated score Your opponents accumulated score ( if you have an opponent ). The object of the game is to fill all the positions on the scoreboard in the alloted number of turns, rerolling unwanted dice to obtain the required combinations to score. * (13) turns with up to three rolls or rerolls each turn are initially given to each contestant. * Scoring requires that you have something of value showing in any order on the dice when your turn ends or if you choose ( 0 ) when asked if you wish to reroll any of the dice. Scoring is automatic with the GAME attempting to give you the hightest score possible. You may score only once in each catagory except yahtzee which you may score as often as you can. The first yahtzee in any game is worth 50 [points] thereafter they are worth 100 [points] and an extra turn to which ever player scores it. To score on ONES to SIXES you must have at least 3 of that di value showing. You are given the total of those three dice as your score at the end of your turn or if you choose ( 0 ) when prompted to reroll any. example 3 sixes score 18 points. BONUS a bonus of 35 points is awarded to any player who obtains 63 or more total score on ONES to SIXES. A FREE TURN is given once, if you can make no other score, and is equivelent to the total of all 5 dice. A FULL HOUSE requires three of one di value and 2 of another, in any order, showing on the dice. the value of a FULL HOUSE is 25 points. If the value of the matching THREE dice would, if put on an open slot in ONES to SIXES, bring the total score of ONES to SIXES to 63 or more, the score is put on ONES to SIXES as this will give you a 35 point BONUS. FULL HOUSE EXAMPLES ( 33322 ) ( 44224 ) and so forth. THREE OF A KIND if made, gives the total of all five dice showing, and scores higher than ONES to SIXES. The dice may be in any order. FOUR OF A KIND if made, also gives the total of all five dice and also scores higher than on ONES to SIXES, unless the spot is open on ONES to SIXES and the total of the four matching dice would bring your total on ONES to SIXES to 63 or more. This condition causes the score to be put on ONES to SIXES as that would allow you to obtain the 35 point BONUS given for 63 or more total points on ONES to SIXES. A SMALL STRAIGHT is any combination ( minimum ) of the folowing combinations ( 1234 ) ( 2345 ) ( 3456 ). The dice may be in any order. No mind is paid to the 5th di. Score is 35 points A LARGE STRAIGHT is any combination of the folowing combinations ( 12345 ) ( 23456 ) again the dice may be in any order. Score is 45 points. If LARGE STRAIGHT is filled and SMALL STRAIGHT is not, you have still met the requirements for a SMALL STRAIGHT and are given the SMALL STRAIGHT score of 35 points. Each turn you are given an initial roll of all five dice, then you may choose to reroll as many as you like for up to two more rerolls to obtain a score. At that time you are given any score you obtained and the game cycles to the next player, this is also true if you choose to press ( 0 ) when prompted to reroll any. You are told if you obtained no score by the game. To select a di for reroll simply press the number above the di after inputting the total number of dice you wish to change. You may halt the game any time the score board is in view by pressing ESC and answering the ( y/N ) prompt.
