Unique Identifier : AIDSLINE MED/96126499 AB OBJECTIVE: The aim of this paper is to describe the outcome of fluoxetine treatment of depressed patients with HIV infection. METHOD: An open study was made of 20 patients with varying stages of HIV infection treated for depression with fluoxetine. RESULTS: 15 of 20 patients improved with fluoxetine treatment; the drug was generally well tolerated, with no significant drug-drug interactions. CONCLUSIONS: Fluoxetine appears to be effective for the treatment of depression in patients with HIV infection.
