If you have no idea what a zip file is and you really don't want to know, then EZ Download is also for you. EZ Download manages the entire download process safely and intelligently. HOW TO INSTALL -------------- Run setup.exe WHAT'S NEW IN THIS RELEASE -------------------------- - Support for anti-virus scanners - Automatic detection and support for Norton AntiVirus and Norton AntiVirus Internet Scanner - More reliable method of attaching to Netscape - Extermination of a couple of rare bugs TIPS ---- Netscape saves .zip and .exe files in the folder pointed to by the TEMP environment variable. The Windows default for the TEMP setting is C:\DOS, which is messy if not dangerous. To change the TEMP setting to C:\Windows\temp for example, insert the following line in C:\autoexec.bat: set temp=C:\Windows\temp Once Netscape finishes downloading the .zip or the .exe, EZ Download unzips and/or runs it in a temporary folder under the Download folder (C:\downloaded files by default). If you choose to not install the file right away, EZ Download simply moves it to the Download folder. To install it later, right click on the file and select EZ Install. EZ Download requires pkunzip.exe to unzip files. By default, it expects it to be in a folder that is on your PATH (which is another environment variable). However, if that's not your case, you can set pkunzip.exe's location under Options. HOW TO UNINSTALL ---------------- Start Control Panel. Select Add/Remove Program. Select EZ Download. WHAT'S IN DEVELOPMENT --------------------- - Support for simultaneous downloads - EZ Download for Win3.x Send comments, suggestions or bug reports to: n314159@primenet.com Windows 95 and Windows NT are registered trademarks of Microsoft Corp.
