==================================================================== The following document [cc-sysop.txt] is to be read in addition to the CALVARY GUIDELINES by all prospective CalvaryNet HUBS and NODES. ==================================================================== GRAPH SHOWING THE CALVARY NETWORK SYSTEM AND ADMINISTRATION. I. Operational Layout ------------------ CalvaryNet is a Computer Ministry of Calvary Chapel Oceanside as well as an Authorized Computer Ministry of Calvary Chapel for participating Calvary Chapel BBS systems. Any APPROVED Calvary Chapel BBS can act as a relay point for any other APPROVED Calvary Chapel BBS system. This provides cost effective transferring of mail whenever possible. Central Relay BBS The Shepherd's Flock Family BBS ------------------------------- | | CalvaryNet BBS Systems acting as a relay point for others ---------------------------------- | | CalvaryNet BBS Systems relaying CalvaryNet Mail ------------------------- | | The Brethren Fellowshiping on CalvaryNet -------------------------- * Network concerns must be relayed through John Scudder than Calvary Chapel or Affiliate Church's. This will ensure that your concerns are received and given attention. II. Policies and Procedures: {Reading CCPOLICY.TXT is mandatory} ----------------------- For Communication Policies regarding ALL users on CalvaryNet, please refer to the CCPOLICY.TXT file "CalvaryNet Guidelines". NOTE: IMPORTANT: The use of Aliases on CalvaryNet are absolutely prohibited. If you run a BBS, attend Calvary, and want to Relay the CalvaryNet conferences... but allow Aliases on your BBS, you will have to devise a way to where the users on your system are forced to use their REAL NAMES when accessing the CalvaryNet Conferences. The reason is to enhance fellowship in Christ with REAL interaction... {knowing who you are indeed talking to} as well as providing a means of accountability. APPLICATIONS FOR CALVARYNET RELAY: -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- * Applications for CalvaryNet Relay should be sent to via E-MAIL to John.Scudder@Kandy.Com or requested verbally at 619-630-0340. Note: Currently, we are only allowing Calvary Chapel and Affiliate Church Sysops to Relay CalvaryNet. If you do not attend Calvary Chapel or an Affiliate Church, please do not be offended if your application for relay is denied. We would be blessed by your fellowship in Christ on CalvaryNet regardless of whether you relay as a Sysop or just participate as one of the brethren in the Lord. * The Network message base will not be used to discuss application disapproval for any individual. Such will be done privately and confidentially with the involved parties. * NETWORK and CONFERENCE USAGE: -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- CalvaryNet is structured to allow all Christians an avenue for Fellowship and Information Exchange. However, the Focus for CalvaryNet is Calvary Chapel and Affiliate Church fellowship. Please follow these guidelines when operating a Calvary Chapel Computer Ministry: CalvaryNet on your BBS or in your communications regarding this network: 1. CalvaryNet is relayed via QWK Mail packets. We are checking into the possibilities of utilizing the Internet to some extent, but nothing is being carried out at this time. We have also contemplated FIDO transfers, yet further research is necessary in for that method of mail transfer as well. Thus, only QWK Packets are authorized for CalvaryNet Relay at this time. 2. CalvaryNet is open to THE COMMUNITY {all} for fellowship and information exchange. It is required that all individuals that will have an avenue to CalvaryNet on your respective BBS's be presented with the CalvaryNet Guidelines prior to their access. We want them to know of our strict "brother to brother" relations BEFORE they engage in fellowship on CalvaryNet. Thus, please post the CCPOLICY.TXT file either on their initial registration to the BBS or as a system bulletin. 3. Only Calvary Chapel or Affiliate Sysop representatives of Approved CalvaryNet Relaying Systems are authorized to relay CalvaryNet mail in any form. Calvary Chapel Network {CalvaryNet} cannot be piggybacked to other networks, nor share any particular CalvaryNet Conference with other network, either in part or in full. This includes taking CalvaryNet messages and forwarding, copying, or any other duplication of CalvaryNet's mail into the Internet, FIDO Networks, QWK Networks, or any other Network. Also, Mail from other networks cannot be placed into the CalvaryNet conferences. (All this is the same as "sharing" CalvaryNet mail, and is not permitted). - exception: The Kandy Shack Bulletin Board System is our only Non-Calvary Chapel relay allowed. 4. Approved Calvary Chapel and affiliate Church BBS's can post BBS ADs in CC-BBS only. Posting BBS Ads for Non-Calvary related BBS systems is not permitted on CalvaryNet. CONFERENCE SPECIFIC GUIDELINES -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=- 1. Address all Network problems in the CC-ADMIN Conference. Please do not discuss Network Administrative Business in any other CalvaryNet Conferneces. 2. It is required that ALL HUBS and NODES Carry ALL CalvaryNet Conferences with the following exceptions: CC-PASTOR {This conference will be relayed only by those BBS's that have and active Calvary Chapel or Affiliate Pastor on CalvaryNet. SEE CC-PASTOR Conference specific guidelines later in this text}. 3. All CC BBS Sysops wishing to discontinue CalvaryNet relays should give at least 2 weeks notice to the Network Administrator (John Scudder). Special considerations will be taken on a case by case basis. 4. All CalvaryNet CC BBS Systems must relay at least 3 times a week unless pre-approved by the Network Administrator. Relaying less than 3 times a week does not allow for good communication between users sending and receiving messages. Relaying less than 3 times a week does not keep the CC BBS Sysop up to date on important messages that my be placed in 4HisGlory or CC-ADMIN. 5. Real Names are required of the users on CalvaryNet. If your BBS allows "Handles" or other such alterations from actual user names, you will have to devise a way so that their real name is used when accessing a Calvary Chapel Conference. 6. It is the responsibility of each CalvaryNet BBS Sysop to "police" their own BBS for inappropriate conduct on CalvaryNet. Please make the CCPOLICY.TXT file "CalvaryNet Guidelines" readily available to all your users BEFORE they are given access to CalvaryNet. Specific Guidelines for the CC-PASTOR CONFERENCE ================================================ 1. A Calvary Chapel or affiliate Church BBS must have either an active Pastor or an active Pastor Secretary communicating on CalvaryNet to have NetStatus and/or Relay Access to CC-PASTOR. If a BBS is being set up for a Calvary Chapel Church or affiliate, they will automatically have NetStatus access to the CC-PASTOR conference. Rational: This allows for more private communication for Calvary Chapel Pastors and also allows for more "security" in their communication on CalvaryNet. 2. The Network Administrator, or assigned person by the Network Administrator, will post the CCPASTOR.TXT file on CC-PASTOR at least once a month and whenever there is an addition to the CalvaryNet Pastor Access. Rational: This keeps the Pastors informed as to who they may communicate with via CC-PASTOR, and who to contact regarding pending CalvaryNet mail. 3. Pastor Secretaries will be listed in the CCPASTOR.TXT file along side the residing pastor's name, properly identifying each. Rational: This allows the Pastors to be aware of "who" may be taking mail or receiving messages for a particular CC Pastor. PASTOR SECRETARY GUIDELINES FOR CC-PASTOR CONFERENCE USE: ========================================================= A CalvaryNet Pastor Secretary is an individual directly and personally authorized by a Calvary Chapel or Affiliate Church pastor to communicate in the CC-PASTOR on their behalf. A. The Pastor authorizing such access by a "secretary" must write or notify in some manner either Pastor John Brown (the CC-PASTOR Conference Moderator) or the Network Administrator (John Scudder) informing them that this access and personal representation is approved. B. The Secretary must format their message in the following manner: Example using Susan Golden as the CalvaryNet Secretary for Pastor Pat Lazovich of Calvary Chapel Hereford AZ. EXAMPLE FOLLOWS: This message is posted by Susan Golden of Calvary Chapel Hereford Arizona for Pastor Pat Lazovich. {one line separator} {LETTER or MESSAGE CONTENT HERE} {one line separator} Sincerely, Susan Golden CalvaryNet Secretary for Pastor Pat Lazovich C. The approved Secretary can receive and send mail in the same manner a pastor can in representation of their pastor. The CC BBS that the Secretary frequents will have NetStatus Access to CC-PASTOR. D. If a Secretary is directed to communicate to another pastor in the CC-PASTOR's Conference, he/she should first notify the pastor to receive information that mail will be waiting for them on CalvaryNet's CC-PASTOR Conference. Rational: Some pastors do not frequently monitor CC-PASTOR not CalvaryNet in general. Pre-Notification to a Pastor that is about to receive mail/computer generated text/ formatted documents, UUENCODED mail will ensure that such a pastor not only receives this mail, but will also help to alert such a pastor that they may expect mail on CalvaryNet's CC-PASTOR conference in the future. A. RESPONSIBILITIES OF ALL RELAYING CALVARYNET BBS'S -------------------------------------------------- All Calvary Chapel BBS SYSOPS interacting with The Shepherd's FLock and other Calvary Chapel Computer Ministry BBS's carrying CalvaryNet are responsible for the following: 1. Reading and responding to relevant messages in the CC-ADMIN conference on a regular basis. 2. Maintaining the integrity of the CALVARYNET by not allowing users to abuse the nature of this net. The CalvaryNet will not tolerate PROFANITY, ABUSIVE LANGUAGE, PERSONAL ATTACKS, OR BASHING. BBS SYSOP's are expected to monitor there users and will take action against the user who violates this policy when requested (i.e. remove from BBS, not allow access to CALVARYNET conferences, etc.). 3. Distribution of CalvaryNet conference mail to other BBS's is prohibited unless approved by the Network Administrator. 4. Since CalvaryNet is a Ministry of Calvary Chapel and Affiliates World Wide, and althought we allow ALL to interact on CalvaryNet, we request that you do not use CalvaryNet to advertise other Networks, as the focus of CalvaryNet is Calvary. Thanks! All CC BBS's receiving applications for CalvaryNet relay are responsible for relaying such applications to the Network Administrator in a timely manner. NETWORK TAGLINES: -=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=- All TAGLINES will be required to be in the following format: a. Export Taglines CalvaryNet * Your BBS Name * Your City, State * (XXX) xxx-xxxx b. Import Taglines CalvaryNet * The Shepherd's Flock BBS: Oceanside, CA (619) 630-7437 c. ALL MESSAGE TAGLINES MUST GIVE GLORY TO GOD. Further information regarding message taglines can be found in the CCPOLICY.TXT file. B. RULES THAT YOU ARE REQUIRED TO PRESENT TO YOUR CALLERS ------------------------------------------------------ {REFER TO CCPOLICY.TXT: CalvaryNet Guidelines} This file MUST be made available to your users, either as a "Bulletin", or "welcome" screen. Users must be made aware of expected behaviors on CalvaryNet prior to their communicating on this Christ centered ministry. C. Sysop interaction on CALVARYNET ------------------------------- CalvaryNet is a growing new Calvary Chapel Computer Ministry Network, and is very "in tune' the the Calvary Chapel "needs". It is the desire of the Network Administrators that Calvary Sysops be as involved as much as possible in many decision making processes. Final decisions are made by the Network Administrator and Pastor Ralph Wood. ============+++++++======================= CalvaryNet Conference Setup "At a Glance": ============+++++++======================= 1. It is required for ALL CC BBS's Relaying CalvaryNet to carry ALL CalvaryNet Specific Conferences. Important files (the CALV Information files) will be relayed to the Sysops via CC-FILES in UUENCODE format. Software is available to assist you in decoding and then utilizing CalvaryNet information provided you in this conference. Please check CC-FILES for important CALV information distribution. 2. All CalvaryNet conferences must be set to FORCE ECHO.. or.. FORCE NETWORK SEND if at all possible. That means that the users should not be asked if they want their message sent over the net... it should be automatic. 3. All CalvaryNet Conferences should be set to DISALLOW PRIVATE MESSAGES if at all possible. Only public messages are allowed on CalvaryNet. Please ensure you provide the CC-SUPPORT intro screen somehow so your users can see what pastors they can directly access. 4. All CalvaryNet Conferences should have the CARBON COPY option turned off or disallowed if at all possible. Since the CalvaryNet Conferences are public conferences, carbon copies only increase the message packet size which is not desirable. 5. Aliases are NOT permitted whatsoever. We get a new name.. one that pleases God... when we are with Jesus. Until then... let's use ONLY our REAL NAMES {chuckle}. 6. It is mandatory that the CCPOLICY.TXT statement be presented to the users before they have access to CalvaryNet. That way, they are informed of the behaviors that are expected of them. Please post the UPDATED copy of CCPOLICY.TXT when it is posted in the CC-ADMIN conf. 7. All users on a BBS can access CalvaryNet. Although it is a Calvary Chapel Computer Ministry, it is also open to the public. However, from this point on, only Calvary Chapel and affiliate Sysops will be given permission to relay CalvaryNet. This greatly helps with the monitoring of the conferences with regards to those behaviors that are consistant with the CCPOLICY.TXT file and the Calvary Chapel focus. 8. See Below for more indepth info on the CalvaryNet Conferences as well as those CalvaryNet Conferences that have RESTRICTED ACCESS. Additional CalvaryNet Conference Information: 1. 4HisGlory is a restricted conference for Pastor and CC Sysop interaction regarding the "structure" and "focus" of CalvaryNet. Discussion, Prayer, and contemplation take place here to direct CavlaryNet for His Glory and His Service regarding the fellowship and information exchange on CalvaryNet. This allows for Sysop and Pastor input, however, it is the HOST Network Administrator who (in prayer) will make the final administative decision regarding network changes. 2. CC-PASTOR is highly restricted. Only Calvary Chapel Pastors active on CalvaryNet will have access to this conference. This is a "meeting place" for CC Pastors, apart from the general network mail traffic. Only CC BBS's with active CC Pastors on CalvaryNet will have Relay Access. 3. CC-SUPPORT is now a PUBLIC conference where CalvaryNet users can message specific Calvary Chapel pastors (as listed in the CC-Support introduction screen) for pastoral support. Please make this a PUBLIC MAIL ONLY conference if at all possible. 4. Each CC BBS should add a CALVARYNET conference to their CalvaryNet Conference lineup. This conference is a private conference where that sysop can communicate with the Network Administrator apart from the general CalvaryNet Mail. Sysops who are relaying off of a particular CC BBS and not The Shepherd's Flock BBS should STILL have this conference set up even if the contents will be semi-private. This will allow the Network Administrator to address network concerns for different sectors of the nation without alerting the entire network. MOST OF ALL.. May God's light shine upon you, and may you find great rest in the hope and promises of Jesus Christ. AMEN.. COME LORD JESUS! ΔΕΔ ³ Loving you dearly in Christ...
