No Blink ======== noblink2.zip Rock steady caret (text cursor), 6.6Kb EXE. No Blink is a tiny program which will make your text cursor (caret) rock steady. It is written in C and requires no supporting files or libraries. It does not change any of your system files in any way and makes minimal use of memory and resources. (Only one instance is ever running at any one time.) (Note that noblink.exe supercedes my original version which was written in Visual Basic; if you want a clock facility too, then use noblinkt.exe supplied in noblink1.zip.) Installation ------------ Copy noblink.exe to any directory. Start Program Manager and open the group you want to launch No Blink from. ("StartUp" is recommended). Now select File|New to create a new item and use the Browse command to locate NOBLINK.EXE. No Blink is now ready to run. No Blink has no icon and is not visible in the task list when running. Your only evidence that it is working is that your text cursor is rock steady. No Blink works with all applications which follow Microsoft's rules. (Sadly this means that the caret in Word versions 2 and 6 will continue blinking, albeit slowly - Microsoft don't appear to follow their own rules: if you dislike blinking cursors why not ask Microsoft to provide a "No Blink" option in Control Panel's Desktop.) The Windows version of Tcl/Tk also breaks the rules in this respect; however no blinking can be achieved by editing your *.tcl files. (Contact me if you need help with this.) Licence ------- You are free to use No Blink for as long as you wish free of charge. You may copy No Blink freely and give the copies away. You may not sell No Blink, nor include it with software which is sold without written permission of the author. If you are a shareware vendor you may charge a small fee for media, copying and postage, but nothing for the software itself. The software is not supported, but if you have any problems (or solutions!), the author would be glad to hear from you. No Blink is copyright © Mark Summerfield 1995: all rights reserved.
