Icon Corral ----------- The Icon Corral allows you to hide minimized programs into the system tray (down on the task bar by the clock). This is good for reducing taskbar clutter caused by programs such as Schedule+ and PPP dialer, which are almost always minimized anyway. The first time you run The Icon Corral, you'll be presented with the Icon Corral main dialog. From here you can see and modify the list of icons to put on the tasktray. Pressing Add will lead you to the Spec dialog. Here you can specify a window to put on the tray. If you want to hide calculator, for example, you can type 'cal*' into the Title Spec box. Below the title spec box, you can optional specify a different icon if you don't like the icon that Icon Corral finds. Once the configuration is complete, choose the Hide button from Icon Corral's main dialog. When Icon Corral finds any minimized program that meets spec, it will remove it from the taskbar and add an icon to the tasktray. Left clicking on one of these tray icons will restore the corresponding program. Right clicking allows you to do the normal context menu stuff plus it will let you configure or exit the Icon Corral. It is recommended that you put Icon Corral in your startup folder. NEW BONUS: Icon Corral adds 'Disconnect' to Win95 PPP Dialer's context menu. FAQ: > Can you set it up to automatically put things into the tray at startup? Just put icon corral, and shortcuts to whatever programs you want to start in the tray in your startup folder. You may have to change the properties of some of the shortcuts to make their programs start miniminized. However, do not set Icon Corral to start minimized (run it normal). > It would be handy to have an option for each program to hide it from > the taskbar whether or not it is minimized or not. Sorry. I can't do that without the source to taskbar! > The minimized programs dissapear from ALT+TAB I know. Can't do much about it. -Eric Askilsrud erask@cs.washington.edu
