The following improvements were made in LFNsNow! version 1.2f. - For Win 3.x programs that use the Windows standard common dialog box for open/save as, LFNsNow! no longer displays an additional dialog box. Instead, the same dialog box that you would see under Win 3.x is displayed except long file names are displayed in the file and directory list boxes. When a file name is selected on open, the long name is displayed in the edit field and may be opened simply by clicking OK. On save as, just enter the long file name and click OK. You can also select a long name from the file list and edit that name. - If LFNsNow! is handling a Windows 3.x common dialog, a right-mouse click on a file or directory name will bring up a Windows 95 context menu that allows the normal file operations: cut, copy, paste, view, delete, rename, properties, etc. - The context menu will also contain an LFNsNow! properties item that allows you to specify the LFNsNow! settings for the dialog. This allows you to use a smaller font or to always display the LFNsNow! Windows 95 dialog when the Win 3 dialog is displayed. - The context menu also presents a list of files recently used by the Windows 3.x program. If you click on a file name, that file name will be selected. - The context menu also presents a list of recently used directories. If you click on a directory, you will switch immediately to that directory. - If LFNsNow! is handling a Windows 3.x dialog, the file list in that dialog will immediately reflect changes made by other Windows programs. For example, if you rename a file in Explorer, the new name will immediately appear in your Win 3.x dialog. - The Create checkbox on LFNsNow! Save As dialogs has been removed. It is no longer needed. - A new suspend option allows easily turning LFNsNow! off and on without having to stop the program. This may be necessary if any programs are incompatible with LFNsNow! (Note: this completely stops LFNsNow! for ALL programs.) - The activation mechanism has been modified to be more precise, eliminating most situations where LFNsNow! displays a dialog at inappropriate times. When an LFNsNow! dialog should not be displayed, you can turn it off just in that case by clearing the Automatic Display checkbox. - You can now open multiple files with long file names in the Windows 3.x common dialogs. (You cannot open multiple files from the LFNsNow! Open and Save As dialogs in this version.) - The LFNsNow! Windows 95 Open and Save As dialogs have been improved to better select the correct file types when used with Microsoft Word and Excel. - The LFNsNow! dialogs also have these changes: - the Explore button has been replaced with an Options button. - to Explore, right-click on a directory shown in the contents pane. - clicking on Options will bring up a context menu that includes selections for LFNsNow! properties, the list of recently used files, and the list of recently used directories. - Several bugs were fixed. 3/7/96
