To add this option to Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows 95 ========================================== 1. If Microsoft PowerPoint is running, exit PowerPoint. 2. Using File Manager or Windows Explorer, double-click the SETUP.EXE file. 3. You will be asked if you would like to install the Save As PowerPoint 3.0 feature. Press Yes. 4. When the installation is completed, you will receive the message that you may now run PowerPoint and save presentations in the PowerPoint 3.0 format. Press OK. To save your presentation in PowerPoint 3.0 format ==================================== 1. Open the presentation that you wish to save in PowerPoint 3.0 format. 2. From the File menu, select the Save As PowerPoint 3.0 command. (If this option is unavailable, see section on adding the Save As PowerPoint 3.0 feature, above.) 3. Press OK to save the presentation. File names longer than eight characters will automatically be converted to a shorter file name. For example, a PowerPoint file called "This Is A Long File Name.PPT" will be renamed to "Thisis~1.PPT" when the Save As PowerPoint 3.0 option is invoked. ABOUT SAVING TO POWERPOINT 3.0 FORMAT ====================================== PowerPoint 95 (version 7.0) offers the ability to save to the PowerPoint 3.0 format. When you open a PowerPoint 7.0 presentation in PowerPoint 3.0, your slides may look different and, when you run the presentation, you may find that certain transitions and other options you set don't run in PowerPoint 3.0. Features that are new to PowerPoint 7.0 may work differently or may not work at all in PowerPoint 3.0 such as the following: * rotated and vertical text will lose their rotation * dashed line styles will be converted to solid lines * two color shades and textured files will be lost or convert to solid fills * animation builds and transitions may lose sounds associated with these actions ABOUT SHARED INSTALLATIONS OF POWERPOINT 95 ============================================ If you are running a shared installation of PowerPoint 95, you may need to update shared files to ensure the ability to save files as PowerPoint 3.0. This will require read/write access to any network share where PowerPoint files reside. If you don't have read/write access to a shared PowerPoint directory, contact your network administrator. Network administrators will need to update shared installations of PowerPoint prior to this functionality being provided for users of shared installations.
