Note: The SlimRelease does not include the full VB4 Run-Time library

SumDir32 is a Visual Basic Program that will recursively find, identify
and summarize all directories on your system.

It was built with Visual Basic 4.0 Standard Edition.

Although this version SHOULD work on NT, it has not been tested and
'Explorer' drill downs will not function (at least until NT 4.0
is release with a compatible version of explorer).

To install, follow the "Setup" and "Explorer Setup" directions below.
Be sure to check out the On-Line help for information on "drill downs" in
the Overview/Grid Control section.

                          SumDir32 Setup
                          --------------

Here's a real surprise, run "Setup" from the list of files attached.

The Setup program does install the minimal Visual Basic 4.0 RunTime
support needed.

It also puts SumDir32.exe, SumDir32.hlp and DiskSpace32 in your Windows directory
to ensure that they are in your executable path. You can manually place it
anywhere you like, but to use the "drill down" feature mentioned above,
it must be in your executable path.

The files which should already be installed in your Windows\System
directory are :

          STKIT432.DLL    24,576 bytes
          VB40032.DLL    721,168 bytes
          VEN2232.OLB     37,376 bytes
          OLEPRO32.DLL    72,464 bytes
          MSVCRT20.DLL   253,952 bytes
          MSVCRT40.DLL   312,832 bytes
          CTL3D32.DLL     26,112 bytes
          MFC40.DLL      923,408 bytes

The only new file added to your Windows\System directory will be :

          GRID32.OCX      89,600 bytes


                    Explorer Setup
                    --------------

Setting up Explorer as discussed below will allow you to simply right-click
on a folder to launch a summary of that folder.


1.  Start Windows Explorer

2.  Select "View", "Options ..." and the "File Types" tab

3.  Scroll down and find "Folder" in the list of types then click
    "Edit"

4.  Click "New"

5.  Specify "Action" as "&SumDir32"

6.  Specify "Application Used to Perform Action" as "c:\windows\SumDir32 %1"
    (where 'windows' is whatever directory Windows95 is in)

7.  Close out of the Options window.

You can now summarize a directory/folder using SumDir32 simply by right
clicking a folder icon in explorer. It's that Easy!!

If you want to add a second right-click action, such as forcing a display
by Descending Size, go through steps 1-7 again, specifying "Action" as
"SumDir32 &by Dsnd" and "Application Used to Perform Action" as
"c:\windows\SumDir32 %1 /d"

			New in Version 1.0.3
                        --------------------

1.  Version 1.0.3 includes a menu item to display the free space on ALL
    available disks including network disks. This subprocedure is also
    included as a standalone executable 'DiskSpace32' in this release.

2.  Context sensitive Windows Help.

3.  A few tweaks to enhance speed.
