You are also welcome to use ARS to build your own file collections from the vast libraries of National Shareware Library [tm]. We only ask that you help your users understand that shareware is copyrighted software that offers a user a try-before-you-buy distribution method. Please encourage your users to register shareware with the authors. Public domain and freeware may also be found in the NSL libraries. Public domain is software for which the copyright has been donated to the public. Freeware is copyrighted software for which the author is not requesting a registration fee. All files in the NSL file libraries are family-rated. Sources are on record for all files in the NSL library. Files are checked against the most current national HACK REPORT for copyright violations, tampering, piracy, etc. All NSL files are scanned for viruses using the latest technology. Files having a .NSL extension are archived using ARJ v2.41a. ARJ v2.41+ can be configured to automatically recognize .NSL extensions (add 'SET ARJ_SW=-HX.ARJ.NSL' to your autoexec.bat file). A special security envelope provided by Robert Jung, author of ARJ, has been added for your protection. An invalid security envelope indicates tampering. Note that if you convert this file to another archive method or add a comment the security envelope _will_ be lost. We suggest that you just use the file as is or rename it with an .ARJ extension thereby preserving the security envelope and making your users more comfortable downloading from your BBS! The National Shareware Library (tm) offers it's own shareware program to sysops to automatically process and add files to your collection. ARS-BBS supports many BBS formats including Major BBS, TBBS, RBBS, Maximus, SpitFire, and any BBS software that supports a standard FILES.BBS format. ARS-BBS and the latest version of ARJ may always be found in the NSL free file area.
