============================================================= DATE: 02/05/93 CSP ANNOUNCEMENT ============================================================= FROM: EUROPEAN MIKROGRAF TO: ALL ------------------------------------------------------------- After many months of hard work CSP (the inexpensive 9600 protocol used by CompuCom) is back. MikroGraf has completed a Rockwell Chip-set 9600 bps data and fax modem using CSP. The CSP protocol, used on many BBS's around the world including EXEC-PC (414-789-4450) is now going to be marketed as an alternative to 2400 fax modems. CSP offers a true 9600 bps data transfer speed without use of compression technology. This means you can transfer zip files at up to 1000 cps rather than the 200 to 240 cps you get on a 2400 bps modem. A zip file taking 30 minuets to transfer at 2400bps will take 7 to 9 minuets with CSP. The cost of the CSP and fax modem from MikroGraf is $99. This includes SEND/REC.FAX and V.42/42bis and FAX software. MikroGraf is also working on a duel protocol V.32bis/CSP modem that will connect at 14,400 with v.32bis modems and 9600 with other CSP modems. MikroGraf is currently working with other manufactures to install CSP in their modems so you will see CSP modems from companies other than MikroGraf.
