RIP in RA July 20,1993 This text file describes how I have implemented RIP in my BBS setup of RA. It is not the only or the best way to implement it, just a way. Create two subdirectories off of the main RA directory. \RA\RIPTXT to hold the text files displayed \RA\RIPMNU to hold the menus Copy the ENGLISH.RAL file to RIP.RAL Setup the RIP protocol as a Language in RACONFIG as follows: Name RIP Available Yes Language text Menu path C:\RA\RIPMNU Text path C:\RA\RIPTXT Ques C:\RA\RIPTXT Filename C:\RA\RIP.RAL Now create your various scenes with a RIP Drawing program of your choice. I use RIPaint by TeleGrafixs RIPaint creates a file with an extension of .RIP. Copy the newly created scenes to the \RA\RIPTXT directory changing the extension to .ANS Edit the new file with your favorite text editor and place an ASCII 5 () character or a club symbol as the first character of the first line. This can be done by holding down the Alt key pressing the numeric keypad 5 and releasing The RIP Menus will need to be changed to display the various new ANS files as any other graphical menu. Use the type 40 option, Display ANS with hot keys active. It is a few extra steps to display the RIP scenes but well worth the effort. Your users will love it! ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: ====================== If you want additional information, files or help with any of the above text I maintain a full line of files and an echo devoted entirely to RIP. The RIP Echo as fast as it is growing will soon be on the backbone of FidoNet. For a list of all RIP files currently available (FREQ) file request using the magic name of RIPFILES from one of the addresses below.
