SB PROP @ ARL $ARLP037 ARLP037 Propagation de KT7H ZCZC AP51 QST de W1AW Propagation Forecast Bulletin 37 ARLP037 From Tad Cook, KT7H Seattle, WA September 10, 1994 To all radio amateurs SB PROP ARL ARLP037 ARLP037 Propagation de KT7H Solar activity was up dramatically last week. The average solar flux was nearly 20 points higher than the previous week. The best day was September 3, when the flux was 100 and the K index was zero or one over most periods. On the same day a well placed coronal hole on the solar surface produced a Class C X-ray flare. Several days later this caused a rise in the K and A indices which signal a disturbance. The K index has been as high as 5, and the A index has risen over several days. Disturbed conditions should continue, possibly through the 11th. Following that, the geomagnetic field should remain quiet, and the solar flux should hit a low for the month, around 70, for the period from September 20 through 28. As we head into Fall, look for improving worldwide propagation on the higher bands, although with lower flux levels, conditions won't be as good as last year. Sunspot Numbers for September 1 through 7 were 59, 93, 101, 86, 92, 83 and 89, with a mean of 86.1. 10.7 cm flux was 85.8, 90, 100, 94, 94, 95 and 92, with a mean of 93. The path projection for this week is from Las Vegas, Nevada to Mongolia. 80 meters looks good from 1130 to 1300z, and 40 meters from 1030 to 1400. Check 30 meters from 1330 to 1530, and 20 meters from 2300 to 0530. 17 meters may be open on many days from 0100 to 0330, and on some days 15 meters might be open from 0100 to 0230. On rare occasions 12 meters could have an opening around 0000 to 0200, and 10 meters from 0030 to 0200. NNNN /EX
