IRTS News for 12th March 1995 DONEGAL (TIR CONAILL) ARS ------------------------- A meeting of the Donegal (Tir Conaill) ARS was held on 22nd February in Jackson's Hotel, Ballybofey, with a large number in attendance. Last minute arrangements were discussed as Wednesday was the last day to place a deposit for the trip to Aranmore Island, which will take place in June this year. Three videos were shown at the meeting, starting with a short one covering amateur TV. This proved to be a very interesting mode, and would appear to be the mode of the future. The second video was a lecture covering various types of antennas and the theory of their operation. The third and final video was a comic look at the hobby through the eyes of Tony Hancock. Tony demonstrated the difficulties that can be encountered when dealing with emergency traffic in the form of SOS calls. The next meeting of the society will be held on 29th March, and it is planned to hold a slide show and talk by a local man describing his safari through the Sahara and Gobi deserts. This will be an interesting change from radio related topics. SOUTH DUBLIN ARC ---------------- The AGM of SDR took place on 28th February in the club's QTH in Rathfarnham.
