SB DX @ ALLBBS $OPDX.174 Ohio/Penn DX Bulletin No. 174 The Ohio/Penn Dx PacketCluster DX Bulletin No. 174 BID: $OPDX.174 September 12, 1994 Editor Tedd Mirgliotta, KB8NW Provided by BARF-80 BBS Cleveland, Ohio Online at 216-237-8208 14400/9600/2400/1200/300 8/N/1 Thanks to the Northern Ohio Amateur Radio Society, Northern Ohio DX Association, Ohio/Penn PacketCluster Network, DF4RD, DL7VEE & DX NEWS Letter, IK4CIE, AH0W/OH2LVG, JA0VSH, K4CEF & Southeastern Cluster group, JH1ORA, SM0TXT & DX-Loggen, HR1ERL, WA3YVN, KG6AR, WJ7R, N9NS and AG9GR for the following DX information. 9I, ZAMBIA. Brian, 9J2BO, has been active this past week signing with the special callsign of 9I30ZIN. The special callsign is being used to celebrate the 30 years of Zambia independence. The length of operation and celebration is unknown at this time. D2, ANGOLA. Kjell, SM7DZZ, will be active as D2ZZ starting September 22nd for about 10 days. He prefers CW and the low bands. After D2-land and in the middle of October (no specific dates mention), Kjell will be active from Namibia as V51/SM7DZZ. Later this year he will be returning to Mozambique to operate as C91Z. QSL to his CBA. FR/E, EUROPA (UPDATE). There are still concerns on whether or not FR5HG/E is for real, yet most are beginning to feel this station is legit. This station continues to be very active, especially on 40 meter CW, plus the operator has been checking into the French DX Net which is normal for most operations from that highly wanted area. Peter, ON6TT, says this operator sends very fast CW and he feels the operator is a professional radio operator (because Peter heard him say, "I am doing already CW the whole day, so operating phone on the ham bands takes the stress off, hi."). Meanwhile, Kaz, JH1ORA, states he talked Michel, FR5HG, on August 22nd, 40 meters CW, and was told that Michel would be QRV from /E for 45 days, and would be active on CW, SSB and RTTY using a R7 vertical with tuner. QSL via F6FNU. REMEMBER, WORK FIRST WORRY LATER (WFWL)! HQ, HONDURAS. Ernesto, HR1ERL, will be using the special prefix and callsign HQ1T for the next 2 months. He did not inform OPDX the reason for the use of this special callsign but he did say he will be active on several DX nets. QSL via HR1FC. IP1, PALMARIA ISLAND (Italy). Victor, IK4CIE, and others will be active for one day between 0700 and 1700z, on Sunday, September 18th. This island is located in the Liguria Region Group and Victor reports its IOTA number is EU-084. Look for IP1/IK4CIE, IP1/I4VJC and IP1/IK4IDW on 10-40 meters, including the WARC bands, mainly on CW but with some SSB operations on the IOTA frequency of 14260 kHz. QSL via the operators CBA. If weather conditions are bad, this operation will be postpone until September 25th. V5, NAMIBIA (An update on the info from OPDX.172). Pete, N0AFW, will be heading up a group of five operators to be active from the city of Tsumeb, Namibia for a Multi/Single operation in the CQ WW SSB Contest. Operators joining Pete are Mike/N9NS, Craig/AH9C, Glenn/WA0PUJ, Pat/NH6UY and their host Gerd/V51GB. The contest callsign will be V59T, and outside the contest the operators will use their own callsigns /V51. As reported earlier, Pat will be bring gear for satellite operations. The group will arrive on October 24th and depart on November 6th. QSL all calls via WA2FIJ. V6, FEDERATED STATES OF MICRONESIA. Kazu, JA0VSH, and his wife Miyuki, JG0PBJ, will be active from Pohnpei during October 1-10th as V63KZ and V63MP, respectively. Activities will be on CW/SSB, all HF bands, including the Top Band and the WARC bands. During their evening, CW will only be used so as to not to disturb the other occupants at the hotel. Miyuki is a very new DXer and will probably only operate SSB (PLEASE have patience and help her). QSL to CBA or bureau. Also active from V6-land will be Shoji, JL7CHC, who was recently active this past weekend from Guam as KH2IO. Shoji will be active until September 14th on 6-40 meters SSB and on 29 MHz FM. QSL via JL7CHC. VP8/SG, SOUTH GEORGIA ISLAND DXPEDITION UPDATED. Al Hernandez, WA3YVN, informed OPDX that Vince Thompson, K5VT, has been added to the list of operators. The team now consists of the following: Al (WA3YVN), Jan (WA4VQD) and Vince (K5VT). QSL ZF2RV/ZF8 via WJ7R and ZF2MC/ZF8 via N7MCA. Also, be looking for ZF2JI in a Multi/Single entry in the CW WW SSB Contest by John Attaway, K4IIF. QSL via KG6AR. FAX YOUR DX INFORMATION NOW!
