Danny, ON4VT, will be traveling to 3V-land and expects to be there February 27th. He hopes he will be able to operate from the club station 3V8BB. If permission is not given, he will be working on permission to operate from 3V later in the year. If he does operate he will be active on the WARC bands. Danny will be there for one week. 5R, MADAGASCAR (UPDATE). According to Ben, 5R8DS, the German group (DL5UF, DK1CE and DF5WA) that will be active from February 25th to March 10th, will probably be using the callsigns 5R8EH, 5R8EI and 5R8EJ. 9M0, SPRATLY ISLANDS. Another group has announced that they will be active from here as 9M0A, but from Layang Lagang Island, the Malaysian claimed part of the Spratly Islands (These islands are claimed by several countries). The planned DXpedition will be from March 29th to April 3rd. The operators will be JA9AA, JA9AG, JR9GBJ, JS1QHO, 9M6BZ, 9M6JC and 9M6ST. The 9M0A team will have three stations available with two on the air at all times. Operations will be on CW, SSB, RTTY, and SSTV with activity on all HF bands and 50 MHz. They will use the callsign 9M0AG on 50 MHz. Suggested frequencies will be: CW - 1825, 3502, 7002, 10102, 14002, 18070, 21002, 24940, 28002 and 50110 kHz SSB - 3790, 7080, 14195, 18115, 21295, 24990, 28495 and 50110 kHz RTTY- 7029, 14080, 21080 and 28080 kHz SSTV- 14230 and 21330 kHz No satellite operations are planned at this time. Just a reminder, the Philippine Amateur Radio Association (PARA) will also be leading an all Philippine team to the Spratly Islands to activate DU0K on all bands and modes from April 10-16th. QSL via DU9RG. EJ, THE ISLAND OF INISHMAN (Rep. of Ireland). A group will be active from this island from May 13-19th. Inishman is part of the Aran Island group which is off the west coast of Ireland and has IOTA reference number of EU-006. KENYA RECIPROCAL LICENSE NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT! Jim, KF7E, received a fax from Lynn, 5Z4DU, who has been working the last 2 years to have reciprocal licensing agreement between Kenya and the USA, but states there is a great need of a show of support by the American Hams now. Lynn states the agreement is closer than ever, but needs individuals willing to assist in communicating their show of support to Ambassador Benjamin Kipkorir by FAX at 202-462-3829 or by mail at 2249 R St NW, Washington DC, 20008. PY3, BRAZIL. A group of technicians experimenters, with main task to make antenna tests and propagation studies, will be active from February 25th to March 5th. They will operate 160-10 meters, including the WARC bands, multi-modes CW/SSB and they will be active in the ARRL SSB DX Contest. Operators wiill be: PY3PAZ/Paulo, PY3GSP/Gil, PY3ZAP/Lvaro, PU3AGN/Leandro, PU3LOM/Luiz, PY3KID/Adilson and Christian (SWL). QSL via the bureau. SLIM ALERT! A DXpedition is planned by FAIRS (Foundation for Amateur International Radio Service) and Friends of Tuva (FOT) to the Tuvan Republic in Russia. At the invitation of FAIRS members, Dr. Yuri Katutin, UA4LCQ, abd Pat, AA6EG, are organizing an American team of operators to go to Kyzyl, the capital city of the Tuvan Republic. The DXpedition will take place in late May, or early June, 1995, and is expected to take about 4 weeks. Operators DL7UTR and DL7UUO will be active as V5/call from February 24th to March 19th. Activity will be on CW and SSB on 160-10 meters. QSL via DL7UUO. VP9, BERMUDA. Jeff, N2MZH will be active on the island of Bermuda from March 2-7th, as N2MZH/VP9. Look for him on all bands with particular focus on WARC/LOW bands. His preferred mode is CW, but will be happy to come up on RTTY or SSB if needed. Also, look for Jeff and Glen (VP9ID) during the ARRL SSB Contest as VP9DX, putting in a full contest effort to make sure everyone gets VP9 on all bands! QSLs for N2MZH/VP9 direct w/SASE via CBA. QSLing for VP9DX will be via WB2YQH, also direct w/SASE and 100% via bureau. There will be a special picture QSL card for ALL N2MZH/VP9 QSOs received direct and for the first 500 requests for VP9DX. The Radio Society of Bermuda will operate special event station VP9RND in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the "Royal Naval Dockyard" in Sandys Parish. The operation will take place from the Clock Tower at Dockyard on May 20 and 21st, between 1200 and 2000z daily. Operation will be mainly SSB on the HF bands with the possibility of a satellite operation. A special certificate will be available to stations contacting VP9RND and to SWLs as well. Requests for certificates go to WB2YQH (listen for details on the air). XW, LAOS. Reports on the Ohio/Penn Network and the Tokyo PacketCluster indicate a station signing XW1 (yep, that's the whole call) has been active since February 24th. The Tokyo cluster reports the operator is JH1AJT. For stateside check around 14195-14200 between 1300 and 1400z and again between 0000 and 0100z. The Tokyo cluster reported activity as follows: 40 meters between 1545-1615z and a again at 2000-2100z, 80 meters between 1500-1530z and 15 meters (21295 kHz) around 0945z. QSL via JH1AJT. ZD8, ASCENSION ISLAND. Jim, N6TJ, will once again be active as ZD8Z on 160-10 meters, from February 25th to March 10th. He plans to be active in the ARRL SSB Contest. QSL via VE3HO. ZF, CAYMAN ISLANDS. Al Brown, WA3FYZ, and his sons (Jared and Al Jr.), will be operating as ZF2AB (ZF2 "A"l "B"rown), from the Grand Cayman Island (IOTA NA-16 Grid Square: EK99gi). Activity will start around 2000z March 23rd and end around 1700z on March 30th. Operations will be on SSB, 75, 40, 20 15 and 10 meters. Most operations are expected to be on or around 14200 kHz daily from 1200-1400z, 1630-1800z, and after 2030z. ZF2AB operators will try to check into a net daily on 3920 kHz at 2300z. Also, ZF2AB will be on the air for the US State Dept Foreign Service Net on Sunday, (26th) at 1500z on 14316 kHz, at 1530z on 21416 kHz, and at 1600z on 28416 kHz.
