The Northern California DX Club will host this 46th annual event which represents one of the oldest and best known DX functions in existence. Box 494243, Redding, Ca 96049. 3Y, BOUVET ISLAND. UA9OBA will be traveling throughout the Antarctic and Arctic beginning in June. He plans to activate a few new IOTAs in his travels (Nanskian Island and Scott Island). He will end his long trip in late October/November to activate Bouvet Island (AN-002). 4X, ISRAEL. Riki, 4X4NJ, is active daily on 160 meters 20 minutes before and after his sunset. He is usually on or around 1830 kHz and listening up a few hundred Hertz. Riki also mentioned he is looking for the following states to complete his WAS: ID, ND, NV, OR and UT. 4S7, SRI LANKA. Willem, ON6TZ, and Gerard, ON4ASQ, will be active until April 1st. No QSNs have been reported as of yet on the Ohio/Penn Network, so callsigns and band activities are not available. 9H, MALTA. NODXA members Birgit, DL7VTZ, and Holger, DL7VTM, who were recently active from the Congo (as TN2M and TN4U) will be on Gozo Island from March 24th until April 7th, signing 9H1TZ and 9H1TY respectively. They plan to participate in the CQWW WPX Contest (25th and 26th). Activity will be on all bands with 100 watts and wire antennas. QSL via DL7VRO. 9K, KUWAIT. Faisal, 9K2HA, reports that all foreigners in Kuwait must now sign 9K2/homecall as of March 1st. BE ADVISED that some callsigns issued to some foreigners are now assigned to Kuwaiti nationals (ex. 9K2ZZ now belongs to Faisal, ex-9K2HA. QSL via ON6BY). Ray, W8CNL, QSL Manager for 9K2ZZ (before March 1st) reports the following changes as of March 1st: 9K2ZZ is now 9K2/N6BFM ... QSL Manager W8CNL 9K2ZC is now 9K2/KI0K ... QSL Manager KC4ELO Ray also reports that all cards received for contacts made with 9K2ZZ after March 1st, will not be answered or forwarded to Kuwait, so PLEASE check the QSL info with the station you have worked. New cards are being printed for the stations listed above, so PLEASE be patient. 9Q, ZAIRE. Peter, ON6TT, continues to be very active as 9Q5TT. He was heard this past weekend operating RTTY on 20 meters starting around 2030z A9, BAHRAIN. The DX News Letter (DXNL) reports that Admiral Scotty Redd, USN (K0DQ) is currently signing A92Q and is often active on 40 meters CW. No other details are available because no QSNs are reported on the Ohio/Penn Network. QSL via Box 116, Manama, Bahrain. CARIBBEAN DXPEDITION. Mark, DL1XAQ, and Ralf, DL9XAT, will be active from four different IOTAs in the Caribbean Sea. They will start from the St. Vincent area (J8) on NA-109 (March 25-27th) and then NA-025 (March 27th to April 1st). They will be active from the St. Lucia (J6) NA-108 from April 1-4th and then from NA-102, a Guadeloupe (FG) island, April 4-8th. Activity will be on 80-10 meters (also check the IOTA frequencies). QSL via homecalls. J6, ST. LUCIA. Peter, DK1RP, will be active from here, April 11-29th as J6/DK1RP. His activity will be mainly on CW and on the WARC bands. All QSOs will be confirmed via bureau automatically. PACIFIC DXPEDITION. Tosy, JA6VZB, will be active from three different islands during the month of March. He should be active now from Koror Island (Rep. of Belau) as KC6VW until March 17th. Tosy will be active from Yap Island (Micronesia) as V63BM, March 17-19th. He will then end his activity on Guam as AH0T/KH2, March 19th (length of stay is unknown). His operations will be on all bands using CW/SSB/RTTY, with an emphasis on 160 meters and RTTY. QSL only via the bureau to JA6BSM. SPECIAL EVENT. The Special Olympics World Olympic Games will be held in July at New Haven, CT. Special Event Station, W1SO, will be located at these games and be active from July 1 through July 9th. It was reported that there will be multi transmitters/operators involving many hams from many radio clubs in the area. More details will be forthcoming. TI9 PIRATE. A station continues to operate as AA2JS/TI9 and it has been suggested to ignore and not to carry on a QSO with this station. Scott, AA8SM, talked to the wife of AA2JS and she stated that he is NOT in TI9. She also mentioned that a lot of QSL cards are being received and to inform everyone NOT to QSL this station. TN, CONGO. A new "YL" operator named Hazel was heard over the past weekend signing TN7OT on 14220 kHz around 1945z. USCG STATION'S KEY TO GO QRT. U.S. Coast Guard Communications Area Master Station Atlantic (CAMSLANT) "NMN" in Virginia Beach will cease HF Morse code operation on April 1,1995. A final message will be broadcasted on April 1,1995 at 0001z on 5.870, 8.471, 12.718.5 and 16.976 MHz. NMN will issue a special certificate to those who copy the final message. XF0C, CLARION ISLAND. There seems to be some confusion on what this station counts for DXCC. The answer is "Revillagigedos". Clarion Island is one of Revillagigedos group, along with San Benedicto, Roca Partida and Isla Socorro (which was active last October by a group using the callsign XF4M). QSL XF0C via XE1BEF or Box 231, Colima, Mexico, 28000. ZD8, ASCENSION ISLAND. G4RWD is reportedly on the air as ZD8WD until September. Not much information is available on this one as far as band activities. (Please send QSNs) ZS9WRT.
