Mount Athos, SV/A. Monk Apollo came on with the first RTTY in a long time around 1330Z, Sunday 7 August. Most contacts were with Europe and Japan with only one stateside cracking pile up. The operation was on same QRG, no split, making it difficult. From all reports a thank you is in order to Dominik, DL5EBE for shipping $6,000 of solar cells, batteries and an Icom 735 for the new monastery. Sudan, ST. Luigi, ST2AA has a temporary station from home before hopefully setting up with high dipole at the University of Africa where he hopes to have a maildrop operation, ST0K. He is only QRV on 20 meters and has simple equipment, the Icom 735 running about 50 watts. The TNC is SCS PTC-Plus and old small PX8 computer with 32kb memory. Luigi hopes this will help those needing Sudan for first time in Pactor mode. QSL info: Airport P.O.B. 73, Khartoum International Airport, Sudan, Africa.
