Once again, The Society of Newfoundland Radio Amateurs (SONRA) will be operating the VO1AA station in commemoration of the Dec 12, 1901 reception of the first trans-Atlantic wireless signal by Guglielmo Marconi at Signal Hill in St. John's. The station is operating from Cabot Tower, which is approximately 100 ft from the actual site where the historic signal was received. The operation begins at 0000 UTC on Dec 12, 1994 and runs until 2400 UTC. At various times, there will be CW operation on 14.012MHz and 10.112MHz with much of the operation being on phone on various bands. There is the possibility of an Award being established for the Dec 12 operations. More will follow. The members of SONRA welcome all HF DXers and Historic station buffs to join us for a QSO and contact with the site where DX started. The QSL route for the station is: VO1AA c/o Roly Peddle Box 1226 St. John's, NF Canada A1C 5M9 or via the bureau.
