The History List -- Backward and Forward through History

NCSA Mosaic also maintains a history list, recording every document you display. You can navigate via the history list in any of three ways:

The tool bar: Clicking on left arrow button () on the tool bar will take you to the document immediately preceding the current document in the history list, unless you are currently viewing the first document on the list. Clicking on right arrow button ()on the tool bar will take you to the document immediately following the current document in the history list, unless you are currently viewing the last document on the list.

The Back and Forward entries: Selecting Navigate ... Back will take you to the document immediately preceding the current document in the history list, unless you are currently viewing the first document on the list. Selecting Navigate ... Forward will take you to the document immediately following the current document in the history list, unless you are currently viewing the last document on the list.

The Navigate menu

The History window: Open the NCSA Mosaic History window by pulling down the Navigate menu and selecting History. The current history list will be displayed and the current document's URL will be highlighted. To view a document in the list, either double-click on the desired document or select it and click on Load. Click on Dismiss to close the History window without loading a new document.

The History window

You can move backward through the history list unless you are currently viewing the first document on the list. You can move forward through the history list unless you are currently viewing the last document on the list.

After travelling back through the history, selecting subsequent hyperlinks will overwrite the existing history from that point.
