         WatchCD is a utility which monitors the carrier detect line
    of COM ports 1-4 and reboots the machine should the carrier drop.
    What sets this series of utilities apart from others of its ilk
    is WatchCD flushes write-behind caches to disk prior to rebooting
    the machine. This prevents losses of data caused by rebooting a
    machine while using write-behind (or write-delayed) disk caches.
    
         WatchCD is provided as a set of small TSR programs, each one
    compiled for a specific COM port. Each version has the COM port
    number for which it was compiled as part of its name.  Thus,
    WATCHCD1.COM watches COM1, WATCHCD2.COM watches COM2, and so on.
    Currently WatchCD works only on standard COM port assignments.
    
         WatchCD currently supports the following disk caching
    software: SmartDrive 4.0+; PC-Cache 5.x-6.x, and 8.0+; Norton
    Utilities NCACHE-F and NCACHE-S; QuickCache II v4.20+; and
    Super-PC Kwik versions 3.20+.
    
         Using WatchCD could not be any easier.  Run the appropriate
    version for the COM port you wish to monitor. WatchCD prints a
    message stating it is installed, or a terse message describing
    why it did not. Once installed, a loss of carrier on the COM port
    causes WatchCD to flush whatever caches it knows about to disk.
    Uninstall WatchCD at any time by running the program and adding
    "/U" to the command line like this:
    
                   WATCHCD1 /U
    
         NOTE: You must not load any terminate and stay resident
    software after WatchCD if you plan on uninstalling it later.
    
         Please note WatchCD will NOT install itself at all if there
    is no carrier on the COM port when it first runs. This behavior is
    by design. This permits BBS Sysops to use this utility and still
    run their doors (or whatever) locally.
