ROCIE-Net Public Announcement and Policy Statement -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Policy Statement ---------------- ROCIE-Net (pronounced ROCKY) is intended as a network of bulletin boards in Riverside-Orange County-Inland Empire area (hence the acronym ROCIE). Network Rules ------------- The rules of the network are simple, "No rules other then common courtesy and good taste." Nodes carring ROCIE are asked to monitor their own backyard and deal with offensive messages and/or users in whatever manner that their software allows to inhibit these transmissions. New Forums (Conferences) ------------------------ New ROCIE forums will be added to the central hub initially once 4 boards agree to carry them. If ROCIE grows larger then 25 nodes, then 1/5 of the boards online would have to agree to carry a forum before it becomes officially ROCIE sanctioned and will then be offered by the central hub. Forums will be removed from the hub if they generate less then 5 messages weekly for a one month period and the central hub will notify everyone via the ROCIE-Administration forum prior to removing the forum. Growth ------ It is the intention of ROCIE to be an alternative to the larger national networks, therefore boards that carry ROCIE and also maintain smaller public networks are encouraged to propose incorporation of their network into ROCIE via the ROCIE-Administration forum. Based on the 1/5 premise they will become a part of ROCIE, carried by the central hub and otherwise relinquish ownership and governing by the previous net administration. In an effort to grow, ROCIE encourages all bulletin boards in the area to join in and subsequently propose additons to the forum offerings. Redistribution of ROCIE-Net forums ---------------------------------- Retransmisson of the network will be allowed via any net status, QWK compatible door. Any BBS will be allowed to join the net once they have made arrangements with any other node to act as their hub. The only required forum/conference to be taken is the ROCIE-Administration forum and a new link/node is asked to leave a message there announcing that they are now online. Postlink Cross-link ------------------- The Main Shop (ROCIE-Net central hub) will serve as the cross link for the ROCIE-Net forums, over to the RIME Postlink network. Any bbs wishing to carry these forums through Postlink must already be a member of RIME, and own a licensed copy of Postlink software. This restriction is simply to prevent non-RIME bbs' from appearing on the RIME node list at the Nethub as active RIME nodes. In addition, those who ARE members of RIME, but are not HUBs on RIME, please do not act as a hub for these forums through Postlink. If you are taking ROCIE through Postlink, and wish to make ROCIE available through your QWK door, then set the proper flags/switches in your QWK door so that it will 'export non-network messages'. DO NOT set 'bridge mode' within PostLink! ROCIE Taglines -------------- All nodes shall incorporate the word ROCIE somewhere in their node software tagline, in each of the ROCIE forums that bbs carries. ROCIE Administration -------------------- ROCIE is administered by Mike Kruss, Tony Summy, and Jay Heyl. These individuals can be reached at the following boards: Mike Kruss - Motown L.A. BBS (714) 535-1319 Jay Heyl - The Cookie Jar BBS (714) 997-0350 Tony Summy - The Main Shop (ROCIE central Hub) (714) 288-1320
