Written by: Steve Gasque ALLFILES LIST CREATOR v2.0 for WILDCAT! v4.0 Implementation and Documentation *IMPORTANT* This version of AFLC20 only works with Wildcat! v4.0. If you are running Wildcat! v3.x then you need AFLC10.ZIP instead of this file. Files Contained in this archive: AFLC20.EXE ALLFILES.TXT DESC.SDI FILE-ID.DIZ Disclaimer ~~~~~~~~~~ AFLC20 is provided as-is and devoid of any warranty. There is absolutely no guarantee that it will run on your computer, much less run correctly. If you decide to run AFLC20 on your system, then you do so at your own risk. You should always make a backup of your data files before trying any new utility. I (Steve Gasque) or Northwest-Shoals Community College cannot and will not assume any responsibility for your loss of data or downtime, or etc. AFLC20 has been throughly tested to insure the safety and integrity of your system, and I feel confident that it will run error free. However, if you do experience problems, call NWSCC InfoLink at the above mentioned number and leave a comment to the Sysop. Overview ~~~~~~~~ AFLC20 is Shareware and can be freely distributed in the same form it was received and nothing should be added or taken away. AFLC20 was written to provide a way for Wildcat v3.x users to create a list of available files on their BBS. AFLC20 has been tested on a Novell Network and DOS Share under OS/2. AFLC20 will allow you to exclude up to 50 file areas from the list and it allows any compression utility to be used to create your compressed version of the list. AFLC20 will also freshen the file size, date and time in your wildcat ALLFILES.DAT database. AFLC20 will also allow several configuration files to be used simply by passing the configuration file name as a parameter to AFLC20. If a file name parameter is not passed then the default of ALLFILES.CFG will be used. If a configuration file does not already exist then you will be prompted to enter the following information to be stored in the configuration file. Configuration ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. Full Path to MAKEWILD.DAT example: C:\WC30\ This should normally be same path you run Wildcat from. 2. Up to 50 file area numbers to exclude examples: 3,15,33 3,10-15,18 5 6 11,22-25 File area numbers can be separated with a comma or a space. The - (dash) means thru. For example, 10-15 means to exclude file areas 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15. Be sure you don't exceed the 50 file area limit. 3. Freshen Date, Time, File Size for compressed File? Y or N example: Y 4. Name of file compression utility program with path example: C:\UTILITY\PKZIP.EXE <---be sure to include the extension You may also include any necessary compression utility command line parameters. For example, C:\UTILITY\ARJ.EXE A or C:\UTILITY\PKZIP -AEX 5. Name of Compressed File as listed in ALLFILES.DAT example: ALLFILES.ZIP <---must be added to ALLFILES.DAT manually thru WildCat first time. Take note! This is the one thing that most users overlook... This file (ex. ALLFILES.ZIP) MUST be added to ALLFILES.DAT manually thru the WILDCAT Sysop menu the first time. It will be updated from that point on by AFLC20. If you receive a runtime error of 100 then you didn't do this! 6. Path for location of .TXT file example: C:\WC30\ This can be any existing path. 7. Enter Name for Text File example: NWSCC.TXT This will be the ASCII text file of your ALLFILES list. 8. Erase Text File after compressing? Y or N example: N You may want the text file to remain for your own viewing later. 9. Single or Double Line List S\D? example: D S for Single line will show only the File name, Size, and Description. The D for Double line will show the File name, size, file date, number of downloads, date of last access, password required, free file, and description. You can use 2 different configuration files and create 2 compressed files. One could be called ALLFILES.ZIP and the other ALLFILED.ZIP. ALLFILES.ZIP could contain the single line listing and ALLFILED.ZIP could contain the double line listing. Your users would then have a choice of which way they want to see the list. You can have as many different configuration files as you like and use a batch file to call AFLC20 passing the appropriate configuration file name. The batch files can then be ran as a scheduled event. **************************************************************************** NEW IN THIS SHAREWARE VERSION! I have added the ability to include user defined File Area Headers. This option is for those of you gifted with the fine talent of creating nice looking ASCII graphic screens. Instead of the default: ======================================================================== File Area: 1--> Utility ======================================================================== you now can make it look anyway you want. Û Û ßßÛßß ßÛß Û ßÛß ßßÛßß Û Û Û Û Û Û Û Û Û ÛÜÜÛ ÛÜÜÜÛ Û ÜÛÜ ÛÜÜÜ ÜÛÜ Û Û ßßß You can use as many lines as you like. For example, you could spell out "Utility" in big letters using special ASCII characters. One thing to remember though is to keep it within the bounds of 79 characters per line. Here is how its done: AFLC20 will look for a special file called AREAx.BBS. x represents the file area from 1 to 1000. Do not include leading zeros. For example, area 10 file would be called AREA10.BBS. These files must reside in the same directory with AFLC20.EXE If you just want to create an area header file for just a couple of areas then thats ok too because the default will be used for all other areas. The editor you use to create these files must create pure ASCII Text files. $$$ ~~~ Sysops are granted a 30 day trial of AFLC20.
