Secondly, you will be placed on our PREFERRED CUSTOMER LIST, and occassionally you will receive advertisements and free programs for your testing and enjoyment. Notice: Pack D Act v1.01 is designed to function with Wildcat 4.01. What does it do? ---------------- Do your activity logs seem to grow and grow with no end in sight? Do you find yourself manually zipping up the files? Are you searching through huge Activity logs in search of a specific date among many in that particular excessively long log? PACK D ACT v1.01 will simplify, organize and automate these tasks on a daily basis, without ever complaining to you about all the work it has to perform. Actually, it does its job quite effortlessly. Benefits: --------- It takes your ACTIVITY.1 file and zips it up with the date and stores it away conveniently in a subdirectory called: C:\Wildcat\activity In this sub, you find (for example) a group of activity logs in this manner: 021095.ZIP <---- This when unzipped will have ACTIVITY.1 for 2/10/95 021195.ZIP <---- This when unzipped will have ACTIVITY.1 for 2/11/95 021295.ZIP <---- This when unzipped will have ACTIVITY.1 for 2/12/95 021395.ZIP <---- This when unzipped will have ACTIVITY.1 for 2/13/95 Ofcourse, inorder to ZIP and UNZIP you must have the very common PKWare family of programs. They are called PKZIP and PKUNZIP. The shareware versions can be found on almost any BBS in the U.S. Just call your favorite Wildcat BBS and do a search for them. You must place PKZIP in your path. The simpliest way to do this is to copy PKZIP.EXE to your C:\DOS directory. Benefits continued: ------------------- ZIP D ACT in essence makes life a lot easier for you by naming and saving the logs by date. You can now look back and find out who and what was uploaded for specific dates, etc..... I am sure you will love this program, I certainly do..... Instructions: ============= Notice: Installation of this is a piece of cake. I just like to write a lot. Stick with me, you'll see how simple this is. Print this out if you like. Follow these instructions to the word and you should not have a problem. For starters, this program was designed for sysop using Wildcat 4.01 that have their Wildcat! program in the C:\WILDCAT directory. If you have it elsewhere, send in your payment, and I will custom program one for you to suit your needs. I have included several little batch files with this program. These batch files will simplify some matters for you. You don't need to use them, but you may find yourself addicted to them if you do. They help me a great deal. For those of you that don't know what a batch file is, they are the enclosed files that end with: .BAT Again, you do not have to use these, but you will like them if you do. INSTALL.BAT <-- It can stay right where it is for now. You must have the rest of the files in this package together in the same place. This BATCH file will do the following: *Place a copy of W.bat in your C:\DOS *Place a copy of ZLOG101.WCX in your C:\WILDCAT *Place a copy of ACT.BAT in your C:\DOS *Create C:\WILDCAT\ACTIVITY After you use type INSTALL.BAT once, you can delete INSTALL.BAT. W.BAT <--- Goes in C:\DOS (This will do a directory wide with a pause in your C:\wildcat directory. It brings you to it no matter where you are at on your hard drive.) ACT.BAT <-- Goes in C:\DOS (This will do a directory wide with a pause in the C:\WILDCAT\ACTIVITY if you have created it.) This brings you do the place where you will be keeping your activity logs now. All you have to do now, is type ACT and hit enter and you'll see all of your stored activity ziped files. This little batch file saves you a lot of typing work. You WILL NOT have to type the usual: CD\WILDCAT\ACTIVITY (ENTER) Dir /w /p (ENTER) This act.bat will do this for you. Now comes the Wildcat configuration (wow, that's a big word).... This is simple folks. Don't be fooled. I am about to explain it in a way that allowed my 6-year old to do it. So, I know you can handle it..... 1) Log on as sysop, with your sysop menu before you. 2) Choose "1" for sysop commands. 3) Choose "E" for Event Management. 4) Choose "A" for ADD. 5) Choose "9" for Run WCCODE file. (If you don't know it already, ZLOG101.WCX is a WCCODE program sometimes refered to as a WCCODE application. Wow, lots of techno-jargon.) 6) Choose "D" for "DAILY", "Runs on specified day of week." (This will set up my program to run every day) (We will set it up to run late at night in a minute) 7) Choose "E" for "Every Day" 8) Choose "S" to save and continue. 9) Choose "H" to select execution. It gives this program priority over a caller. If someone is oneline, he will be logged off automatically by the BBS. This program takes only seconds to carry out its job. The caller can call right back. There are other options, like Soft and Flexible execution of this program, but I will not go into that. Please read your sysop manual for that information. 10) Next, type 2359 and hit enter. (This is military time. The computer requires that format. 2359 is actually 11:59 PM) 11) Next, type in C:\WILDCAT\ZLOG101.WCX and hit ENTER. Guarantees?: ============ This program was tested on a Wildcat 4.01 BBS with the BBS program located in C:\Wildcat directory. Do not take these statements as a form of guarantee.
