AMSG2.ZIP  - Popular Songs of Nineenth Century America Vol 2.

This is the second of three sets of songs which were popular in America during the Nineenth Century.  These songs come from a collection by the same title compiled by Richard Jackson and published by Dover Publication, Inc. , New York. These songs are mostly as originally printed, but where I felt there was an error I have made corrections.  The Songs by Stephen Foster have not been included as his works will be found is two other files I had already uploaded to CIS.  These are sfng1.zip and sfng2.zip.  Some songs came from traditional sources and are merely popular arrangements of the time.  Also in some cases this is the first publication of a song, and it might sound quite different than what is usually heard today.  AMSONG24.mid is a good example.  This is "The One Horse Open Sleigh" (Jingle Bells) by James Pierpont.  The Chorus from the original is very different from what is commonly heard today.  BTW, Mr. Pierpont is buried here in Savannah, Georgia in our Laurel Grove Cemetary.
