OMNIDrive is a whole new way to work with .ZIP files. OMNIDrive allows you to attach a drive letter to ANY .ZIP file. Any standard DOS command may then be used to access, view, delete files, add files, or for that matter any thing that may be done to a DOS disk may now be done to your zip files. Think of it. What easier way could there be to view the contents of your ZIP file than a DOS DIR command ! Can you think of any easier way to add a file to your ZIP file than using DOS COPY or XCOPY ? Imagine ZIP file management using your favorite file manager such as XTree or Nortons Commander. OMNIDrive is fully windows compatible. As drive attachment is independent when it's attached, you could shell out of you favorite COMM package, mount the .ZIP file you had just downloaded and return to your Communications package and suddenly find a new drive available to you, containing the contents of the ZIP file you had just downloaded. What you have just received is a special Demo version of OMNIDrive that allows you to see just how OMNIDrive works. This demo limits what maybe done with your ZIP file, and will not let you add or delete files or change the ZIP file in anyway. But what it will do is convince you just how easy OMNIDrive is to use. OMNIDrive, a whole new approach to ZIP file management ! Install procedure: This version currently supports DOS version 5.0+ only ! Execute OMNIDEMO.EXE from the command line. Once the TSR has been loaded, the ability to attach drive letters to your zip files can be accomplished with the use to the MOUNT and UNMOUND commands. The actual OMNIDrive software will includes an easy to use POP-UP or Windows(r) utilities along with the command line utilities included with this sample disk. Command Reference : MOUNT driveletter zip_filename driveletter may include ANY drive letter available to DOS whether the drive is attached to a physical drive or not. zip_filename may be in valid .ZIP file. UNMOUNT driveletter driveletter maybe any drive letter attached to a .ZIP file. ** Note : Please verify that the LASTDRIVE command in your config.sys file is set to the highest drive letter that you plan to use for OMNIDrive. Remember, OMNIDrive may also be used to temporally replace a drive letter already in use by DOS ( as long as the drive being replaced isn't the host drive of the ZIP file being used. ). This included both Hard Drives and the standard A: or B: floppy drives. This gives OMNIDrive the ability use a ZIP file to hold the contents of a Install program that will be view as drive A: . Now you may keep you Windows Install disks on-line as ZIP files and when prompted to change disk, simply press the OMNIDrive hot key, mount the second ZIP file to the same A: drive ( thus replacing the 'disk' ).
