What is this?

.STY \dot es-tee-why\ n. a brand-new interactive 
magazine on disk for Ventura Publisher users.

This demo includes the graphical user interface, Syntax 
for Windows hypertext reader, and a Ventura 4.0 sample style 
sheet and chapter template (GEM conversion available on request).


Requirements

.STY has only three requirements: Windows 3.1, a VGA monitor and a mouse.

Getting Started with .STY

1. Create a new directory for .STY 
   (example: MD C:\STY)

2. Unzip the file STY_DEMO.ZIP into this directory
   (example: PKUNZIP STYDEMO.ZIP C:\STY)

3. Using Microsoft Windows 3.1 Program manager,
   select Run from the File menu.

4. Type C:\STY\STYDEMO.EXE

5. Click on OK


Navigating

The graphical user interface of .STY is very simple 
and straightforward.

Click on any button to select a topic to explore. Use the red 
arrows to proceed sequentially through the magazine. Click on 
the exit button on the main menu to close the magazine.


The Syntax Hypertext Reader

The articles and tutorials in .STY are Syntax for Windows 
hypertext files. Double click on the references (green colored text 
in the Table of Contents and Index, green underlined text for hypertext 
links) with the left mouse button for more detail or a related topic.

To return to where you were, double-click anywhere in the active window 
with the right mouse button or press ALT+BKSPC. If the reference took 
you into another article (what we call an external reference), 
you can tile the windows to display all open articles or use the Window
menu to select the original article.

To return to .STY from the Syntax hypertext Reader, 
choose Exit from the File menu.

The Tool Bar

The Reader tool bar has buttons for quick access to major Reader functions. 
It floats on top of virtually everything you can move it to the 
desktop if it gets in the way or press CTRL+T to hide it. 
Press CTRL+T again to pop it back.

Use the Reader Tool Bar.
