--------- The MDM and RAM files on my BBS ---------- ***************************************** * BBS Type: WildCat 3.9 * * Modem: Smart One 1442FX (external) * * Other Comm Programs Used: MLink * ***************************************** The SmartOne modem by Best Data has two Banks of memory settings as well as an active bank. BBS-1.RAM loads the BBS's settings into Bank 1 of the modem. MLink-0.RAM loads my comm programs (MLink for Windows) into Bank 0. The other file, "SMARTBBS.MDM" sets up your makewild with proper modem settings for the SmartOne modem as well as telling it that the proper init string are in Bank 1 of the modem. The only difficulty I have is that MLink cannot configure init strings well and I have to manually type "ATZ" at the beginning of running it to change the active Bank to match Bank 0. You may not have this problem. If you use other comm programs, then conf them into Bank 0 by writing them to the active Bank and typing "AT&W" or write your own RAM file with WCMODEM. Make sure you use "ATZ" and not "ATZ1" with your comm programs as I find that the "BBS-1.RAM" file works great with WildCat, but does NOT work well with comm programs. The problem seems to be with the &T5, V1, and W2 commands (change to &T4, V0, and W0 in the case of my comm program). I make no promises that these files will work for you. They seem to work fine on my system. If you wish to talk to me about improving them or just some help, contact me at my BBS or thru the echo addresses below.
