The BBS List file echo has been established to distribute telephone listings and descriptions of Bulletin Board systems from around the world. 2. The compiled Listings should be verified by the author(s) to the best of their ability. 3. The BBS listings should consist of, at minimum, The BBS name, Telephone number, City & State, and the hours of operation if not 24 hours. In addition, Modem speed, type of BBS software, and a short description or focus of the BBS would be helpful. 4. Each BBS List must contain the Author's name and either an address, Telephone number, or Network (Fido, RBBS...etc) address where he/she may be reached. 5. Full Page Adds or single archive listings of BBS's are not permitted. It is also not permitted to distribute the File lists of the BBS's via this FDN. The function of this FDN is to distribute *lists* of BBS telephone numbers and not individual advertisements 6. The BBS List FDN consists of the following sub-sections: 6.1 BBSL_USA BBS listings for the USA 6.2 BBSL_ST BBS Lists on US State level 6.3 BBSL_REG BBS Lists for US Local and Regional level 6.4 BBSL_CAN BBS Listings Canada 6.5 BBSL_EUR BBS Listings Europe 6.6 BBSL_ASI BBS listings Asia & SE Asia 6.7 BBSL_AUS BBS Listings Australia, New Zealand 6.8 BBSL_INT BBS Listings other International sites 6.9 BBSL_MIS Miscellaneous BBS listings and BBS info 6.10 BBSL_ADM Administration File echo to Up-link (pass through) 7. Descriptions of the FDN's 7.1 BBSL_USA is for BBS listings for the USA that contain BBS numbers that cover two or more state 7.2 BBSL_ST is for BBS Lists on a State level e.g.: a Connecticut or New York wide listing of BBS 7.3 BBSL_REG is for BBS lists that are Regional within a state or province. e.g.: a Tri-City BBS list. 7.4 BBSL_CAN is for BBS Listings for Canada either Local, Provincial or Country wide lists. 7.5 BBSL_EUR is for BBS Listings for European countries - All Levels 7.6 BBSL_ASI is for BBS listings for Asia & SE Asia - All levels 7.7 BBSL_AUS is for BBS Listings for Australia, New Zealand - All levels 7.8 BBSL_INT is for BBS Listings of other International sites that don't fall into the other categories, or Listings that are comprised of international BBS's that cover multiple locals. e.g.: A European & Asian listing 7.9 BBSL_MIS is for Miscellaneous BBS listings and BBS info that doesn't fit elsewhere. This echo for specialty BBS lists such as Engineering only BBS lists 7.10 BBSL_ADM is the Administration File echo to Up-link (pass through) that is used to hatch BBS lists to the FDN head for hatching. IT should be configured as a Pass-through area and is only available to nodes who agree to act as a collection point for BBS Lists. 8. The BBSList FDN originates from The Uncanny - X - Board BBS in Wolcott, CT and is coordinated by Dennis Powers (Sysop). You may submit BBS Lists for distribution in any one of four ways: 8.1 File-attach your list with a netmail message to Dennis Powers at Fido-Net 1:141/1135 (28.8 V.FC /V.32B) or 1:141/1136 (9600V.32). 8.2 Dial the BBS direct Node 1 (1:141/1135 )- (203)879-7122 or Node 2 (1:141/1136) - (203)879-6254 and login as: First Name : Guest Last Name: User Password: 123. Then at the main menu type "GUEST" for the Guest menu. You may upload your list and leave a message there. 8.3 Submit the list on a disk (360K/1.2m/1.44m- MS/PC-DOS format) in ASCII text format via US. Mail to: BBSLIST c/o The Uncanny - X - Board P.O. Box 6028 Wolcott, CT 06716. include return postage if you wish your Disk back. 8.4 Forward or Upload your list to a co-operating BBSList distribution site. 9. There is a message Echo for the coordination an information of the BBSList FDN. It originates from 1:141/1135 and is available to systems supporting the BBSList FDN. The access to the Echo should be restricted to Sysops carrying the FDN areas and authors or BBSLists. This is NOT a PUBLIC ECHO.
