If you have the Postlink Mailstore (required of the Relaynet International Message Exchange), it will be much easier to participate in P&BNet. If you are interested in purchasing Postlink, it is $50.00 American, and available through Dr. Bonnie Anthony. If you are already a Relaynet participant, this is how to set up for P&BNet using your existing Postlink software: 1. Copy your entire postlink directory into another directory, let's say, c:\P&BPOST. 2. Make sure you make postcore.exe read only. 3. Go into the postlink.cfg file, and change all the directory names to correspond to the c:\P&BPOST name (and subdirectory names). The most important one to watch out for is SHARED-DIR= because if you leave the directory name as is, every change you make to one network will also apply to the other. 4. Edit your dialing program (such as postcall.scr) so that it has the right phone number and password to your new P&BNet HUB. 5. Copy over OUR channels.nme and dict.net files into c:\P&BPOST. If you don't have copies, you can always download them from Pen and Brush. They are not listed in the files directories, but they're there and up-to-date for you whenever the need arises. 6. Load up TMANAGE and choose UPDATE FROM BBS. Now that all your bbs conferences have been searched, choose EDIT. For every conference you see that is a P&BNet conference (ONLY), select the proper channel number. Our channels begin at 1100 and go up. 7. Now go over (still in TMANAGE) to SITES. Delete them all. 8. Still in SITES, add YOUR OWN, give it a number, and HUB YOU CALL, give it this number 1742 if you call Pen and Brush, or the special number your HUB gave you if you call a different P&BNet HUB. You don't need a default site unless other sites start calling you. We can do that one later. Allowed channels for both hub and you: 1-100 1100-1199 Taken channels for both hub and you: 1-100 1100-1199 9. Publish yourself. 10. QUIT. Quit saves everything and creates whatever directories did not exist before (the directories that are specified in your postlink.cfg file). Good luck!!! ---- A few Postlink notes: In your postlink config file, please make sure the very last entry that says "Administrative sites" has a 1742 next to it, not a "2" (from RIME). DICTIONARY-ADMIN-SITES=1742 This way your updates will come from here, not RIME. Also, while we're at this, the following entries will make your software memory requirements behave better, just add them to your postlink config anywhere, for P&BNet and for RIME if you have RIME: PROTO-OPTIONS-Z=FULLSCREEN COMPRESS-OPTIONS-ZIP=FULLSCREEN If you have nodes who call you using .QWK exchange, please turn bridge import ON so that their .QWK messages are exported with the postlink mail. Do this in both the postlink config file, and for every single conference in TMANAGE EDIT mode.... DEFAULT-BRIDGE-EXPORT=YES DEFAULT-BRIDGE-IMPORT-NO If you are a PCBoard BBS, add the following in your config file: HONOR-PCB-RESERVED=NO IGNORE-PCB-ECHO-FLAGS=YES If you are just receiving your new Postlink software, please be advised that there are a couple of typographical errors in the postlink.cfg file. They are easy to find, they're right near the beginning of the file: Change DUP to DUPE PUB to PUBLIC
