These NewsGroups may be obtained through Cloud Nine BBS using .QWK, .PKT (Fido) and UUCICO packet formats for a nominal fee via modem. Increase your BBS' productivity and stature by providing the exciting world of USENET to your users! What Is the InterNet and USENET -------------------- The InterNet is the largest public network in the world. The InterNet boasts connections to more than 40 countries, thousands of Institutes of Higher Learning, thousands of corporations, organizations such as CompuServe and Delphi, thousands of government agencies (even the WhiteHouse!) and contractors, research centers and much more. It is a 'loose' network in that the physical transport medium varies from modems to high-tech satellites with the only standard being TCP/IP protocol. USENET is the set of NewsGroups that are carried on the InterNet. These NewsGroups fall under larger Groupings such as: rec (recreational categories (hobbies, arts, etc.)); alt (just about anything you can imagine!); soc (social issues, ethnic, etc.); comp (computer topics of all kinds); talk (discussion oriented); and so on. Many NewsGroups are binary in nature and carry hard to get UUENCODED programs. Private E-Mail to all InterNet sites and gates is also supported. USENET is the premier professional and recreational 'network' in the world! (see sample.txt file for a partial listing of available NewsGroups) How Do We Supply It ------------------- Cloud Nine BBS is a 34 node PCBoard 15.0 system with 15 Gigabytes of online file storage and 4 Gigabytes of UseNet NewsGroup storage. We do not run a satellite feed, we use a direct, high-speed 24-hour a day connection to the InterNet using a dedicated computer. We have two additional computers dedicated to scanning, pre-scanning (for .QWK) and tossing mail packets. All 30 of Cloud Nine's Modem nodes are capable of receiving/sending .QWK, .PKT and UUCICO mail bundles. Cloud Nine BBS has 4 2400, 14 9600 V.32, 6 USR HST DS and 6 USR HST DS 16.8 nodes for mail transfers. Our direct connection with the InterNet allows you and your users to execute and obtain services such as help, get lists, subscribe, etc. *COST* ---------------- Hobbyist Node Fees (you do not DownLink (feed) to other BBS') # of NewsGroups Monthly Fee --------------- ----------- 1-100 $12.50 101-200 $20.00 201-300 $30.00 301-400 $35.00 401-500 $39.00 501-600 $42.00 600+ (call) Commercial Node Fees (you DownLink (feed) to other BBS') # of NewsGroups Monthly Fee --------------- ----------- 1-100 $16.50 101-200 $24.00 201-300 $34.00 301-400 $39.00 401-500 $43.00 501-600 $46.00 600+ (call) NOTE: All fees must be prepaid on a quarterly basis.
