Refs 6.32 ========= 17 August 1993 Introduction ------------ Refs is a program for creating browsing and maintaining academic reference databases. The program uses the common ASCII Unix refer file format and so is compatible with Unix refer, and also bibliography programs such as WinRefer. Refs can also import data files in other formats, in an easily expandable way. Modules are supplied to read ISI and Medline files. It is shareware, and the distribution should contain the following files: REFS.EXE The program itself REFS.HLP The help file REFS.INI INI file TEST.REF Example Unix refer data file IMPBIDS.DLL BIDS (ISI) Import DLL IMPMED.DLL Medline Import DLL BWCC.DLL Borland's custom control library README.TXT This file The program will work with Windows 3.1 or higher. Changes since Refs 6.31 ---------------------- * Bugfix to Refs 6.31 and 6.3 Installation ------------ You will need PKUNZIP 2.04 or later to extract this file. 1. Copy the files REFS.HLP, REFS.EXE and TEST.REF into any directory. TEST.REF is merely an example data file and may be deleted. 2. Copy IMPBIDS.DLL and IMPMED.DLL to the same directory, or another directory on the path. If you do not require these DLLs, delete them and remove their entries in REFS.INI. 3. Copy BWCC.DLL into your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. If you have a more recent version already from another program, use that, and ignore this step. Use File, Properties... in File Manager to find the date the file was created. 4. Copy REFS.INI into either your WINDOWS directory or the same directory as REFS.EXE This is important. Certain parts of Refs will not work correctly if REFS.INI cannot be found, or is incomplete. 5. That's it.
