WELCOME TO EXAMINER This disk contains Examiner 1.0 Examiner is a flexible new training and teaching package written exclusively for windows. The program is both simple to use and yet powerful enough to create intelligent tests. There is a full help system to guide a user through the system. Several different modules can be used to grade the level and type of tests that are constructed. Examiner is an attempt to mirror the psychology of learning. This has been divided into three different phases. Learning Reinforcement of material through the learner. This is aimed at learning large amounts of new material, examples may include vocabulary or equations. These are mainly remembered facts used as the building blocks for more abstract questions. Usually no working out is required. Asking The next stage is active learning provided by the asker. The user is required to submit an answer. It is possible to get these questions nearly right. They will, typically, depend upon a body of knowledge acquired by the learner together will the ability to use this knowledge. Reasoning A higher level of understanding may be gauged by the chooser. The direct analogy of this module is the multiple choice type of tests. They are aimed at a more abstract level of question. The questions will typically require knowledge and reasoning. There will be different possible answers that a user can select from. Only one will be correct. Due to the nature of these questions an explanation facility is provided. The creator of a chooser quiz can include a textual explanation of the correct answer. These explanations will be displayed in the performance summary for all incorrect answers. Options Options which govern how a module will run can be set internally from the test. Configurable parameters include: i) time limits ii) number of questions in a quizz iii) immediate statistics iv) reversal of question-answer v) turning on the sound facility The demo Some of the capabilities of the examiner system are illustrated in the demo. This is launched using an application shell. An icon should be created for the demo.hlp file. All associated files should be kept in the same directory. Once inside this application shell, follow through the example lesson. Click on the icons to arrive inside the examiner system. Once in here, the Run/Start Quizz option should be chosen from the top menu. There is no need to load a file. The system will automatically select the material for the quiz that is currently required. To end the quiz session chose File/Exit from the main menu and arrive back in the application lesson. Basic Examiner System In order to run Examiner you will require Microsoft Windows 3.X and the contents of the packing list (see later). This system can be used to build and sit through quizzes. What that all boils down to, is this... I'm giving something to you to try for free. I tested it as best I could and I believe that it can do you no harm even if you use it in an absolutely moronic way. But, if you have a lightning strike at your house and Examiner gets corrupted and instead of crashing it starts playing obscene limericks through your PC's speaker, you can't hold me responsible. This program has no warranty.
