TUNE-IN(tm) The Ultimate Scanner Database BIOGRAPHY ========= Although this software package may seem simplistic and straight forward, it has taken me over two years to complete. Obviously, this was not a full time job. I first decided to write this program while in college. I would listen to my scanner as I studied and commuted back and forth to classes. Since my trip to school was about an hour each way, I traveled through many cities, and even through the Dallas-Fort Worth International airport. I was constantly monitoring traffic and police conditions on my scanner, so that I could avoid any delays. As I would approach the airport, I would listen to the planes landing. I had frequencies written down on dozens of small pieces of paper in my car. It didn't take long for me to realize their had to be a better way of keeping track of all of these frequencies. I initially used a word processor to create my frequency cards. This produced what I wanted, but did not allow for easy editing of my data. The number of frequencies I was listening to was ever increasing. I knew there had to be a better system for keeping up with them all. I began looking for a program to do what I wanted, but those I found didn't seem suited for a scanner. They were too generic, not offering the features I needed to get the most use from my scanner. Plus, since I used my scanner in the car and at air shows quite often, I wanted to be able to produce pocket-sized cards of my frequencies. No other program would do that. Thus, I decided to write my own. Although I had been programming for almost ten years, I had never written anything larger than 10-20 kilobytes. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Through persistence and patience (especially from my wife) I have released Version 1.0. I trust that all bugs have been removed and that it works on every machine out there.
