Callaway of Pinehurst, North Carolina. THE "OFFICIAL" CALLAWAY HANDICAP SYSTEM For MS-DOS STARTING CHS FROM DOS 1. Move to the C drive by typing C: and pressing the key if you are not currently on drive C. Then type CD\CHS and press to move to the \CHS subdirectory. 2. Type CHS and press . GETTING AROUND CHS 1. To invoke a menu option either highlight your choice and press or press the appropriate # followed by the key. 2. The following keystroke information will help you navigate the different screens within CHS: EOF (End of Field). Exit Current Menu Option or Screen. Moves Cursor Backwards. ADDING A NEW SCORECARD 1. Select option #2 from the main menu. 2. Enter the player's full name followed by the key. 3. Enter the total number of putts for 18 holes followed by the key. Enter 99 if putts were not kept. 4. Enter the player's GROSS score for each hole followed by the key. 5. After all of the information has been entered a box will appear in the lower right corner of the screen. Listed within the box will be the player's gross score, adjusted score (no more than double par on any hole), handicap, and net score. 6. You will then be asked if you want to "Save Scorecard Y/N:Y". The default is "Yes". Press to save the scorecard or press N followed by the key if you do not. Entering N will also return you to the CHS main menu. After a scorecard is saved you will be returned to a blank scorecard for additional entry. 7. Press to return to the CHS main menu. 8. Duplicate scorecards are allowed. BE CAREFUL! 9. CHS has the capacity to store 100 scorecards. ADDING A NEW GOLF COURSE 1. Select option #3 from the main menu. 2. Enter the name of the golf course followed by the key. 3. Enter the location of the golf course followed by the key. 4. Enter the PAR strokes for each hole followed by the key. 5. After all of the information has been enter you will be asked if you want to "Save this Course Y/N:Y". The default is "Yes". Press if you want to save this golf course or press N followed by the key if you do not. Either way you will be returned to the CHS main menu. 6. If there are different pars for men and women you will need to enter a separate course for each one. 7. Press to return to the CHS main menu. 8. CHS has the capacity to store 20 golf courses. CHANGING AN EXISTING SCORECARD 1. Select option #4 from the main menu. 2. A list will appear containing the names of all the players currently in the system. If more than 10 players are in the system you will be able to move through the list by pressing and . Highlight the name of the player you want to change and press . 3. Move the cursor to the field you to change and enter the correct information followed by the key. 4. After all of the information has been entered the callaway will be recalculated (if necessary) and you will be asked to "Save Scorecard Y/N:Y". The default is "Yes". Press to save the updated information or press N followed by the key if you do not. 5. You will then be asked if you want to change "Another Scorecard Y/N:Y". The default is "Yes". Press if you do and repeat step #2 or press N followed by the key to return to the CHS main menu. 6. Press to return to the CHS main menu. CHANGING AN EXISTING GOLF COURSE 1. Select option #5 from the main menu. 2. A list will appear containing the names of all the golf courses currently in the system. If more than 10 courses are in the system you will be able to move through the list by pressing and . Highlight the name of the course you want to change and press . 3. Move the cursor to the field you want to change and enter the correct information followed by the key. 4. After all of the information has been entered the callaway will be recalculated (if necessary) and you will be asked to "Save this Course Y/N:Y". The default is "Yes". Press to save the updated information or press N followed by the key if you do not. 5. You will then be asked if you want to change "Another Course Y/N:Y". The default is "Yes". Press if you do and repeat step #2 or press N followed by the key to return to the CHS main menu. 6. Press to return to the CHS main menu. SELECTING THE GOLF COURSE PLAYED 1. Select option #6 from the main menu. 2. A list will appear containing the names of all the courses currently in the system. If more than 10 courses are in the system you will be able to move through the list by pressing and . Highlight the name of the course you played and press . 3. The par score for each hole will be loaded into the system and you will be returned to the CHS main menu. 4. The name and location of the course will now appear at the top of the screen. If no course has been selected the word None appears you will not be permitted to add or change any scorecards. 5. If the golf course file is not empty CHS will start by listing all available courses so that you may select one before the main menu appears. 6. If there are different pars for men and women on the course you played you must select the proper course before entering or changing a scorecard for that person. VIEWING THE DIFFERENT LISTINGS 1. Select option #7, 8, or 9 from the main menu depending on the list you want to view. 2. Press to page forward in the listing. (Backward paging is not available) 3.
