Well I guess that you could call this an "almost finished" version of Four Brothers.....?!?!?! For those who haven't followed the evolution of this project, let me tell you about it. First, BamBam U/L'd a file containing the first 32 bars complete with Rhythm section and Melody line. Labeled Melody 1 on the file. Then Howard Wooten added the excellent "Freddie Green" rhythm guitar part. I then combined them, adding a second melody line to the first chorus an octave higher, labeled Melody 2 on the file, but not quantized, hence when the two are played together (I use a Tenor Sax voice here) they sound like two different horns playing the opening line together...a bigger sound! I also added a 2nd chorus by duplicating the rhythm section of the first chorus and playing a Guitar solo on top of it. At this point, Terry Cano came up with an excellent Shout Chorus which I imported as chorus #3 and added some "punch" Trumpets over the first chorus and the Shout chorus. I use Sax voices for the Shout chorus also. They sure sound good there !! Then BamBam came back on the scene with some drum kicks and fills for Terry's Shout chorus, a different Sax solo for the bridge and a good ending. I then aligned my punch Trumpets to BamBams kicks and fills (where possible) and then did a "copy, paste" routine to duplicate the first chorus as the 4th (last) chorus and then used BamBam's ending. Then JeriAnn posted a nice flute solo for the 2nd chorus bridge and the Shout chorus bridge. It provides a nice counterpoint to what's already there or can be used as a very good stand-alone solo for those sections. So, at this point you have a virtually finished group project. I say "virtually" because even though it can stand on its' own merits, it's still open for "tweaking", adding on, editing, layering or whatever your tastes prefer. Although all the Drum voices are "split out" and labeled, you may want to refer to the Roland Drm TXT file that BamBam included with his original file. I'm including that file here. One problem with having all the Drum voices split out is that it does take up a LOT of tracks but I tried to edit the .MID file so that most of the voices that are only played once or twice will fall on the later tracks, therefor , most of you that only have 24 or 36 tracks on your software will still be able to hear the "meat" of the sequence. I've also tried to strip out all of the PG's and CC 7's but I did leave a track of CC 7's as a stand-alone on the last track so that you could either use it as is or edit them or getrid of them altogether....Your choice !! They provide a pretty good volume mix on my system so I figured that SOME of you would get some use out of them. In case some sequencers can't read the track titles in the .MID file, here's the track/voice assignments that I use..........We probably should have agreed on a common assignment here. It might have been a good idea but maybe next time -:) Midi Ch 2 - Acoustic Piano 3 - E.
